I rev my Evo to 8100 daily with the Revolver springs/retainers... they are supposed to be good to 10,000rpm and 14mm of lift (most available for the Evo I believe). If anything goes... it is going to be the rod bolts.

I send the the above kit to your door from Revolver in the 48 states for $235 BTW.

8100 sounds pretty good to me, but 8500 on stock rods/bolts/pistons seems out of what I would want to try.

I ran my stock block/head to 7800rpms with no ill effects. IMO, once you go past the stock rev limit, your driving habits start playing into things as well. If you're only going to occassionally drag race the car, you might get away with 8000rpms, but if you plan on road racing, or if you just like to rev your car to redline all ... the ... time - then you'd definitely want to upgrade your valvetrain.

I currently run a built 2.0L (supertech valvetrain/ross pistons/crower rods/stock crank) to 9100rpms, but I have not tracked the car yet, so the jury is still out on how well it will hold up.

From NYC, go over the GWB, get on RT 80 west, follow about 60 miles to exit 12 (your 12 miles from pa), shop is 10 minutes off the exit.

I see....my girl lives off of exit 56 on RT 80. I travel that road from the GWB frequently on weekends....dang sounds like your shop is far...but when I'm ready to do my: AEM EMS, Alcky injection, HKS 280's, FP upgrade, headstuds, valvetrain, camgears and custom tuning I'll consider your shop to do the install.
