Clutch Hotness going in tomorrow... Cant wait!!!

My clutch has been slipping for about 3 weeks now, its gotten so bad i can barely drive the car. I was waiting on this clutch and finally got it. Its an exedy twin carbon, brand new. I'm really looking foward to this clutch and hoping it performs very well, IT BETTER FOR HOW MUCH $$ IT IS. figured i'd post up some pics of it before it goes in. I'll def post after i get it in and break it in. I'm going to put at least 600 miles on it just to be 150% sure everything is perfect. I'm dying to be able to floor my car again, i forgot what its like!!!

I'm curious to see if it holds 100% on the street without any clutch warmup.

Good luck with that clutch. I just replaced one that ONLY had 3000 miles for a friend with an RPS.

I would think that clutch would be phenomenal. Nothing worse than driving around with one thats slipping.

It was TOAST. I think i have pics on my camera still and get you some. I know it wasn't the car as it was slipping for no reason from 1 week after install with proper breakin at low boost. A couple of guys on this board have had the same bad luck with this clutch.

I have this clutch and it is sweet! Best feeling evo clutch I've ever driven. Warmup is not needed for daily driving. It may be for an uber powerful car on the strip, but not everday. The fact that it can be slipped without hurting it is a big plus though. You'll love it! The clutch plates make a really cool noise when they slide past the plates when you push in the clutch too!

The carbon discs do wear, actually faster than you think. I have replaced a few of these clutches already and the discs are pretty badly worn. What it lacks in durability it makes up for in lightness and heat capacity. I would not be using this clutch on a street driven car unless you're ok with replacing discs regularly. Then again a few people have had good experiences with these.

Exedy will rebuild a twin carbon for ~$500

You sound like you've got some good experience to compare this unit to a regular Exedy metallic twin. Would you say that the metallic is better for street usage and lasts longer?

Driving a car with a slipping clutch is death to any clutch. Likely not installed or adjusted correctly.

I just got to peak at my tilton carbon/carbon after nine months of hard use. Very little wear on the plates. I see no problem getting 100k out of it. Expensive but worth it.

No ****, thanks for the advice. That wasn't the case in this car but a ****ty clutch from Exedy. The persons car was a fully built AMS car and was built by them so i am pretty sure they know hot to adjust one .

You can't compare a Tilton carbon carbon to an Exedy carbon carbon. They are made apples and oranges.

SO by peeking at your clutch you mean you busted another tranny .
