You can't compare a Tilton carbon carbon to an Exedy carbon carbon. They are made apples and oranges.

SO by peeking at your clutch you mean you busted another tranny .
You quoted the clutch was slipping from week one "for no reason" . No such thing as no reason.

No you cant compare a tilton to an exedy. Al has already replaced the discs on on his triple. All I am saying is carbon doesn't wear fast at all. Its the slowest wearing clutch material there is. Thats why they are expensive. If you want a good carbon clutch buy a tilton. Everyone elses is a poor imitation. Exedy is carbon/metal not carbon/carbon. Carbon heats up the metal surface , causing warpage and washboard surface. Wearing the plates prematurely. Very poor design.

I dont break trannies. power does. But you wouldn't know that since you have't made any yet.

LMAO.... I have seen 3 EVO8 carbon clutches and the Exedy one was the poorest design of the 3 i have seen. I wasn't saying carbon doesn't wear fast, obviously they don't cost 3g's each for nothing. I definitely agree withyou the Tilton is the best clutch to go with, heck if you are going to spend the money go with the Tilton hands down.

I haven't made power because i choose not to and am soo busy working on evos i have no time to work on my own car. But i will stick with my daily driver and not my one 10 sec wonder pass car that is driven once every 3 months and keeps breaking tranny's. Ask Al, AMS, Buschur how many times they have to replace their trannies , ohhh i think they are making power .

Chuco,

I read your posts and you are correct, but one of the few on here that is having tranny issues. Didn't you send your tranny to TRE after the first issue.

94awdcoupe has a mirage and not an evo8, so his car is totally different. Look at his trap speed for instance.

On a side note, Curt brown runs his evo8 upto and over 9grand all day long, and is not having any tranny issues last time i talked to him.

Actually Al ran his stock tranny up until he hit the low 10's with no breakage to speak of. The metallic Exedy twin is a much better setup for the street. Heck, even Al has to heat up his clutch to get good friction out of it. Carbon does indeed wear quite fast, but is very consistent up to the point were it is completely worn. Al gets Exedy clutches for free since they are on of his sponsors, so he has access to them quite easily. Exedy may indeed offer a rebuild for $500, add the labor for install to that and you're easily over $1000. But for the true racer who has no problem with pulling everything apart frequently the trade off is good.

If AL and AMS ran low 11's, high 10's on the standard twin carbon, i doubt i'll have a problem with the heavy duty twin carbon.

You wont have a problem at all. You will love this clutch. It just may not be the best choice for the street.

VTCH if you know someone who had this clutch and it was slipping within 1 week that means one of 2 things. either it was installed wrong, or manufactured wrong. Since Exedy makes the stock clutch for just about everything I'd like to lean towards installation error. BUT if was made wrong and slipped 1 week after install I'd think he would pull it back out and contact exedy. and i dont want to hear he couldnt afford the labor because if AMS put the clutch in and it slipped within a week then He should have brought the car back to them. Without pulling it apart they wouldnt be able to say it wasnt there fault so they probably would have pulled it out without charging him first.

Only other thing could be he didnt break it in properly and was dumping it too soon???
