EVO 8 VS EVO 9 dyno charts from Buschur Racing

Here you go guys.

This is a 2005 EVO8 VS a 2006 EVO9 chart. Virtually the same. I don't see any gains in power or anything magical about the 9's.

The power from what I see is basically the same, which is slightly disapointing.

It's good for those of us that already own EVO 8's as we don't have to drop what we have right away and rush out for a new model.

We have dyno'd TWO new EVO9's and the power was the same on both, so this one particular car isn't just weak.

Thanks for reading,

David Buschur

Buschur Racing Mustang Dyno shows the lowest #s. If you would of dyno the same two evos on a DynoJet Dyno your numbers will show like 230-240whp, so with every dyno you'll get different numbers.

I was watching the comparison between the evo 9 and evo 8 MR on Japanese video, "best motoring", the power is about the same (they all have 280hp) but the aim for the evo 9 is for better low end power and they did comparison by crusing at 30km/h and both car on top gear, the evo 9 GSR is about one car length faster than the evo 8 MR and the quarter mile is bit faster too on the evo9.

sweet.. thats great that you were able to do the comparison so quickly, but then again didnt power vary even from VIII to VIII from the factory? it would be intresting to see after 3 or 4 tests if the results are still equal.

But as long as the two cars are pulled on the same dyno, thats all thats important. Just trying to see differences in te power curve as well as peek performance.

^ +1! Knew I didn't go wrong taking an '05 home right when the IX's were coming out. I did have my doubts in the beginning, but this makes me feel much better!

Thanks for the comparison Dave and keep up the good work!!!

Hey thanks for the charts Dave, great comparison... I have a question:

Whats more valuable... The early torque advantage on the IX from 3100rpm to 3800rpm. OR the torque advantage on the VIII from 3900rpm to 5000rpm??

I guess im happy that the EVO 9 makes the same power as our 8s but at the same time I was hoping for some big numbers.

David do you plan to take one of these turbos off a 9 and put it on a 8 and see what its capable of?

If you have done a stock 2003 on your Dyno, that would be nice to see as well.

The MIVEC should provide better a torque curve, but this isn't anything like VTEC as far as HP gains up top.

We are getting our Evo 9 soon and expect greater gains per mod. But I guess we won't know till then.

David,

Are both the runs on 93 octane? I agree that the results are somewhat disappointing...
