Same here!

Anyhow, I do wish the 9 guys well in their tuning and upgrades. Till then I know that the 03-05 EVO's with the old 4G63 motors are already proven performers....

The MIVEC doesn't look like it does jack sh*t. Too hard to tell with just one sample but it looks like the torque curve might be a tad flatter and spools a bit earlier. Can a "normal" 4G63 aftermarket cam be used in a MIVEC equipped head?

Good info Dave ... I expected earlier spool and more HP/torque in the upper rpms from the EVO 9s ... oh well ...

David,

Have you run any stock 03's on your new dyno yet. I would like to know the comparison.

Think of it this way.

Mitsubishi has a comitment for the group N rally teams.
Now the group N cars have to run a restrictor so that basically kills anything above 5500rpm so there is no point in developing the MIVEC system on the evo9 to just give improvments in the top end.
Its better to use the MIVEC system to help increase low end/mid range torque and help spool up.

Now this doesn't mean much to the people who arn't running their cars in group N rally's so it should be interesting to see what the aftermarket can do with the new MIVEC head.

I can't recall a stock 2003 being on our dyno actually. Most guys have atleast SOMETHING done on their 2003's by the time they get here.
