sorry, i didnt mean the valve cover. i mean the timing belt cover with the pulleys off.
but i think i found the problem. stupid stupid me.

timing was 90 degrees out. i was thinking this was like the old 4g63 and the notches have to face each other. its actually supposed to face the valve cover.
i adjusted it and it started right up.

Hahaha man glad you fix the problem. I knew it was a timing problem causing a weak spark.

The timing being off that much doesn't cause valave train damage? Your lucky.

ya it didn't.
but if the valves where about to hit the pistons, i am sure i would have felt that when i was spinning the engine around by hand.

That's cool. Even if you couldn't feel it, you would sure as know if it was screwed up when it started. Glad you got it fixed.
