Head gasket leak problems

How many people have an oil leak that covers the entire front and rear of the block in a minor oily shine? It doesnt actually drip or anything but does have an oily film covering the whole thing. It seems to be the head gasket however it doesnt mix oil and coolant or anything like that. Just leaks a minor amount of oil universally over the entire block. The highest boost it has really ran much is around 26psi on a GT35r. The head is held on with ARP studs torqued to spec so I dont really know why it does this... i have heard other Evo's doing the same thing and it doesnt seem to do anything adverse aside from a tiny film.

It is probably the most infamous Evo issue of all time. I see it on Evos with and without headstuds... regardless of whether the head had been removed or not. Granted, I see the problem less on untouched longblocks... but the problem exists just the same.

Yep , I seen this on a few cars including my own along time ago and now more and more people are seeing it. Nothing usually mixes that I have seen either but only time will tell if it will happen. I have seen it on one car that had a fully built long block even. Most commonly I see it start at the back of the block but I have seen on all 4 corners as well. Why, I don't really know, but I can say that every block that I have seen it happen on they were using the stock head gasket but I also can't say that I have seen or talked to as many people using a different aftermarket head gasket either so the ratio is highly scewed in my case.

I am wondering with some of the more expensive gaskets that use the rubber coating over the entire gasket would help with this issue. I don't know but it would be worth the difference in cost if it helped with it.

When you install the arp head stud did you use an allen wrench and hand tighten the stud into the block by hand??

If so that could be your problem. That's what I did when I first install my arp HS. I went back and loosen the nut and tighten the stud using a rachet and was surprise to see how much more the stud could be tighten. I TQ the nut to 85 ft\lb. After a few days of driving the leak appears to gone or it's not leaking as much as before. Synthetic oil seems to sip through the smallest leak. I'm not saying that this is your issue but it seemed to help out the leak in my case.
