don't know if clutch or tranny

I started noticing that when i am driving and i shift into third it sometimes grinds or will be in gear and then kicks the shifter back out of gear and it happens especiialy when i am revving high. does anyone know what might be wrong...if its the clutch or tranny? its an 03 evo with 22000 miles on it...

Try adjusting the clutch for higher release/engagement point. If that doesn't do anything for you, then you have transmission issues. There are a lot of threads on this subject if you have the patience to find them. For adjustment look at:

Syncro ....worn out hence the grinding and popping out off gear.

I'm not sure if your having the same problem... samething happened to me... it was the shifter cables.. they got rotted from oxidation or something... I got them cleaned and never had another problem.

I'll have to try to check all the others out.....i guess it could be any problem like syncro or the cables maybe ill just take it into the dealership......still under warranty :P
