On second thought, it almost seems as though you had some grease or something on your flywheel. Just because you had it professionally installed doesn't mean they didn't miss something. Like cleaning the machining oil off the flywheel before installing it. Or maybe they put too much grease on the fork or splines and it got on your new disk.

This is why I don't trust others to work on my car. You have no way of knowing what they did while they were in there. You can't say if it was or wasn't the installers fault. If I were you I wouldn't be so quick to blame the product; especially since I don't seem to find a lot of posts with similar issues.

Lastly, after seeing what my OEM flywheel looked like after only 3 hard launches within 23,000 miles of use, I wouldn't put one back in there. Not even for a grandma style street only driver.

Exedy hyper single is dif. than the exedy stg.1. The hyper is super light and has always been a problem, the twins seem to work muckh better in Evos. The stage 1 however, is essentially the OEM clutch with a bit more clamp pressure an a wonderfully stank free friction surface.

I have about 500 mi on the stage 1 now and I'm getting used to it. seems pretty stiff but I'm really glad it just smells like normal burnt clutch smell when abused, unlike the rotting garbage smell of the stocker.

I'm going to be able to take a look at the Exedy parts in a few days after I get them back from the dealer. I should be able to tell alot about what went wrong from looking at the spent parts. I doubt it was grease because the disc grabbed very well for a few thousand miles. Launch control and 10 autocrosses was just too much for the Exedy in my opinion.

I will change it to oem as well!!!
The exedy clutch worn out after 1500 miles!!!
First the pedal was verry stiff...i loved it!
I was hearing my diff bang everytime i changed the gear!
The clutch chatter and noises like a mf!
I had the high rpm engagement problem and i adjusted the pedal!
I had only 20 launches!
I will change it to OEM!

PS. I probably have like 340-350 whp and the OEM clutch lasted 14000 miles.

Does anyone know what flywheel is recommended with this clutch? Can you use a stock one or does this clutch require and Exedy flywheel? What about the throw out bearing, can you use the stock one with this clutch or do you NEED to use the Exedy?

i was wondering the same thing myself. Why everyone is putting lightened flywheels in with this Exedy Clutch, is it something you have to use or stock work just fine?
