Whos right or wrong? But where is Waldo!

Who cares!!!

The point of our tests are to show you the increase in power by bolting our products on your new EVO. 2 wheel drive dynos, 4 wheel drive, dyno pack, dyno jet, DYNOMITE, does not matter...

As you saw from our first dyno test our numbers were 232.8 horsepower at the wheels. After bolting on our JIC Titanium cat back as the first step in our project we wanted to get it re-dynoed using the same numbers as before to show you the gain. With a 13WHP gain to 245.5 we think it is a success.

You will find these numbers very good and wanting to call Vivid Racing to spend your hard earn dollars

Our next go around is going to be the header, ground kit, and radiator. We should have those dyno tests next week.

We have a ton of parts instock. Give us a call for any questions, orders, and want to see our installs.

Thanks

What items and prices do you have. Since your website isnt ready, can you post a text list of some items to this forum.
I am especially interested in the titanium exhausts as mentioned in your post. I like the fact that it really shows a significant increase in the lower portion of the band. I wish your numbers showed accurate results down in the 3000 or 3500 rpm range.

Just as important as the dyno number, can you put the stock and the JIC on a scale and tell us what they weigh as well? Anything I put on my Evo, I want to weigh less than what its replacing if possible.
Also what size exhaust are you using? 2.5"?

Don't the 18" wheels steal some power?
There must be more mass there.
I would be very curious to see the difference.

Actually the power loss if any is very MINIMAL with the 18 compared to 17" wheels.

Thanks for the comments.

After talking to respectable tuners we have concluded...

One you must use it on a 4 Wheel Drive Dyno...no exceptions!

Two, you must realize the difference in how some setup there dynos, we were trying to get baseline numbers, not tune the car.

Third, if you do the math...a WRX has 227 from the factory and puts down 170ish WHP. The EVO has 271 and puts down 230ish WHP...makes sense!

Talk to some tuners that no what there doing. We do not have our own dyno in house and use the people that know what there doing. Our purpose was to show you the gain from our stock run and then the addition with the catback.

Talk to our preferred dyno tuners -
TurboXS - Nathan 301-977-4727
Dyno Comp - Richard 480-596-0500

Your best bet is to speak to them by phone to understand how dynos and tuning works. If you need parts and what non biased and meaningful numbers then call us!

i understand what u mean...it just seems odd that of the people who have dynoed the car that only one has come up low and u and one other have com up with what was expected

i am not saying that they r wrong or that u r right...just that its odd

and i do realize that one of the dynoed cars was converted to FWD for the dyno...

i am just damn happy the Evo is here finally after all these years

now who wants a slightly used Grand Am so i can Buy and Evo

VividRacing, you're saying that a stock WRX dyno's at 170 on your dyno and the stock evo 230? That's a fairly dramatic gap. Is this true?

People need to learn that when you can play with load settings and correction factors on a dyno you can just about get it to read whatever you want.

While I don't personally agree with Vivid's modification path (yes Dan I am going to bust your ***** about your jap spec bling bling, headers etc since I told you to put a super AFC and a boost controller on the car) they are at least keeping the settings on their dyno the same as their runs progress.

The other thing you have to keep in mind when dealing with a brake dyno is the rate of acceleration of the load. Shiv and I talked about this in another thread where we discussed ramp rates. If a different dyno has a different rate of acceleration, even if everything else is the same, the results will be different. Therefore, consistency in your testing method is very important to achieving comparable results - not just on different machines, but on the same machine as well.

The general public assumes that HP is HP no matter what. If you have different machines, different testing method, different operator, different car, etc. - the numbers will not be directly comparable. Results will vary. Instead of being fixated on the number, you should look at the gain or loss, - +2, +10, etc. - these numbers should be comparable with different machines - as long as the testing method was consistent in the before and after testing. When the testing method changes, then the ability to compare between the two runs is tossed out the window.

It's not a Honda. Try thinking differently about the modding path you take.
