This is the strongest 2005 I have tuned with these mods

The car was pulling so hard that the new Exedy Clutch was slipping and we had to abort the dyno session so he could put some more break in miles on the clutch
Impressive. Did you really end the run at 7,000 RPM or was there just no RPM pickup on this pull?

Basing it off the fact that 370whp in an Evo can trap 117 when driven properly. I put the 116 in there in case the full potential isn't realized due to driving deficiencies or slight changes in scenario (air temp, humidity, coolant temp, etc). Using my 05 as an example, with 248whp I trapped 103.89 on my first and only try. With 282whp, I trapped 107.2whp on my best run out of 5, but with significant enough knock to only see 14* of timing in 4th. I dyno'd 294 and only trapped 108.5 on my first and only try in my current setup, then proceeded to mix in 4gals of 110oct and ran 113.2mph. I haven't dyno'd on the race gas setup yet, but it should be around 330-340whp, following the earlier trend. 350whp on a Dynojet typically nets 114-115mph traps, and so on...

Yes, the torque curve on this car is amazing, whether it's 290wtq or 390wtq...I admit that my curves don't look like that using my own tuning.

We just haven't seen them without race gas or meth before today.

It's been done, 2 years ago in fact. By A Turbo Trixx Customer by the name of Ron on a 2003 9.8 hot side no less with full boltons, no cat, 272's and of course an AEM EMS. He ran a 11.8 at 117MPH

On 93 octane? That's awesome; I wasn't aware of it. Still, that's a full standalone and no cat. Not really comparable, but very impressive for pump gas (no meth, no race gas). Perhaps Al has been able to match an AEM EMS with his flash...

Yes indeed, its a particularly strong car. When I tuned it last week without a fuel pump he bascially ran out of fuel at 20 psi which was unusual. He decided to change from the stock air box to the HKS intake and add a fuel pump.

On this tune, I could not make an ounce more power as his injectors were 100% maxed out. The a/f is significantly leaner on this pull than I normally tune for as the injectors were all the way open.

Now he needs bigger injectors and to break in the clutch for a couple of days and we can see what it will max out at.

There is no doubt that that the individual car in question here is a very good match of parts from the factory. It has a super quiet engine which exibits almost zero knock and the turbo holds boost really well. I have a theory that much of the evo to evo power variation stems from the factory wastegate arm set up. I wish I had had more time to investigate the settings on his wastegate arm but the day was growing long.

The tune on this car was one of my best ever as the tq and power curves are literally flat. Everything came together really well and when I drove it on the road it was a real pleasure, massive low end grunt and smooth as silk.

One thing I forgot to mention, believe it or not the guy had giant 19" rims which probably cost him 15 - 20 whp to spin on the dyno.

maybe he doesn't care about the dragstrip warrtalon! maybe he doesn't want to beat the **** out of his car to hit a 117mph trap speed.

We end the runs on the dyno at 7,000 in most cases

He was. He is local around here (lives in town next to me). He is an honest guy his car was an absolute freak. I saw his dyno from Turbotrix on pump, it was 373whp on 94octane, 22psi.
