Post Cams idling

In many threads, people are saying that they have cams like straight 272s idle like a stock car while some are saying they have rough idel.

For myself, I am running HKS 272/272 and my car got tuned by 2 popular professional tuners in my area, the first time was a road tune and the second time was a dyno tune. After the first tune, the car runs fine(I mean the idle) for 2 days and then i have the STALL PROBLEM. Three week later, i went for a dyno tune and set the cam gears at -2/-2, the car idle good for 1 weeks and now it started to stall again.( A little bit better, stall twice for a short route when the car is fully warmed up). Anyway, I never got the car stall like stock nor any silky idle, I don't care the heavy idle, but i just don't want my car stall out when I am going slow or brake. Any suggestions?

Also, Please post your feeling of the cams idle and stall problem IF YOU HAVE THEM. Not spooling and Not gains discussion.

I have the 264/272 combo and never had a stalling issue. My afr at idle is 14.4, if I run any leaner the rpms search around and the afr goes all over the place. What kind of engine management are you running?

I love my idle, I asked for mine to be this way. I don't see why the lopey thing is such a big deal? Check my sig.

As i said in my post, the heavy idle is a not big deal for me too, but the stalling problem is a BIG BIG deal for me.

Cams will make your car idle lopey regardless... brump brump brump.

To help with the stalling issues...

Try resetting your ECU and see if that helps.

Also did you try raising your idle at all ?

Yeah I just raised my idle a little bit and I haven't really had a problem with stalling. Granted my AEM box just went bad and doesn't control my idle anymore so I'm a special case i guess haha. You won't stall if you get a good tune and fix your settings.

when the car if fully warmed up, it idles like ....
du..du..du..du..du..dududududu..du..du..du..du.du. dududuudud..du..du
the RPM is usually aroung 800-900, but it just jumping around, sometimes it hits 1100 and then immidiately drop to 700. and after a while it jump up to 1000 again and then go back to 800 something.

BTW, a tuner told me not to raising the idle.

I have JUN 272's, which are pure race cams, with a ported head and my car idles perfectly. Holds solid a 1k, NEVER stalls. Maybe you should just find a better tuner.

Can the tuner guarantee that you will never have a stalling problem if you don't ?

With your setup you have to have a good tuner.
