need help with which fluids to use

Can I use the redline gear oil for the transaxle and transfer oil? And for the LSD the Cusco one will work? I dont know the difference between the Redline gear oil and MT90 oil. The ones in the pic are the only ones that I can find here. Let me know if those will work.

Go to lancershop.com. Most people use OEM mitsu diaqueen for the transfercase and diff. BG syncroshift for the tranny seems to be popular and improves shifts.

Thats what I plan to do.

actually either one of those will work. I'd stick with the redline. I use royal purple myself. I do use the bg for the tranny tho. Don't let anyone tell you that you "have" to use the mitsubishi diaqueen. As long as u use something that is gl-5 your fine.

ok so your saying the redline will work for both the transaxle and transfer oil? Do you think the Cusco LSD will work for the LSD? I read somewhere that GL-4 is actually better than GL5

Search for prevoius threads on this...especially the ones that cover replacing clutches

Apparently if you use the wrong fluid in the transfer case (the same one used for the tranny) you will corrode the bearings.

I beleive GL4 goes in the T-Case and GL5 in the Tranny

okay i've done alot of research into this. And my family has operated a auto parts store for over 60 years. the tranny takes gl-4, the transfer case and transaxle take gl-5. now some fluids are gl-4 and gl-5 rated. and from what i have gathered you don't want gl-5 in the tranny, just gl-4. Now this dosn't make alot of sense since some are rated as both, but it has to do with friction. now about only using diaqueen for the transfer case and transaxle. As long as its gl-5 rated use the best oil you can find, and redline is pretty good. hope this clears it up a bit

I used Redline MT-90 for the transmission (GL4) and Redline light shockproof (GL5) for the transfer case and diffs. Everything seems fine.

How about Mobil 1 gear oil and B&M LSD oil? Will they work?

If it was ok to use a 75w90 gl5 in the transfer it would've said so in the manual, but it doesn't, it says straight 90 weight gl5 hypoid gear oil. Try Royal Purple Max Gear 90, its a straight 90 weight gl5 hypoid synthetic gear oil.
