Blew 05 stock turbo

Make a long story short my stock turbo started making alot of weird noices and boost fell off heavily. So I took it to the stealership and they said it was gone. They replaced it no questions asked. Weird thing before my stock turbo was boosting roughly 21psi falling to maybe 19psi. Now my car is only hitting 18-20psi and falling to 16-18psi. Wierd.

I asked about the boost drop and they said they replaced the turbo per the vin number. I dont know seems weird to me. Besides its not the turbo that dictates the boost, its the stock boost solenoid.

That was my concern as well, being that I am happy with the
way mine is peaking at 21 than dropping down to 19.
I'm just hoping that's not a symptom of future failure.

In whiteevo311's case he has mbc , ams fmic. It's hard to tell
what caused his turbo failure.

Could it be right lead-foot syndrome ?

i would be. i can't see why they would replace the hotside of the turbo. i would assume cheap a$$ mitsu would only replace parts it needs to, that being the compresser housing.

what noises BTW?

and a fmic caused the failure by blowing too cold of air? mbc would probably not cause it. maybe him setting it to higher boost, which i assume he ran by looking at all of his mods.

It's all just speculation.

Actually from what I've read on this forum,
installing a bigger FMIC makes the boost drop a little bit.

Well, Anthony has raced the hell out of that thing by hitting 12.1s with hardly any mods then going 11.8s after cams. What I don't understand is why in the hell they replaced it with no questions asked when he has cams, FMIC, mbc, safc, blah blah blah. Maybe he removed some of that stuff before going in, but damn, they should have been able to tell he's raced the hell out of it. Hopefully, if/when this ever happens to me, I get the same treatment, especially since I don't even have cams or an FMIC...
