Thanks manOfaith, great info, are the plugs gapped at .024 from the facotry, ie: when you pull them out of the box, are they at .024? Thanks again.

Wayne,

Since you also have the HKS DLI II and running 100% meth, open up your gap to .028, will make the idle more smoother and the car will run alot better. World of difference gapping it a little bigger.

NGK BR8ES @ .018 gap ---> no misfires @ 30psi or higher.

Now i am getting confused, we have from huge to nil in the gap department, the descisions the descisions, anyone have misfires with a large gap? I dont think my turbo can hit 30PSI or higher! ct9a, is this with a stock turbo? do you have the HKS spark amplifier also?

Higher the boost, the more chances of misfire hence why decreasing gap helps aid in that department -not the other way around.

That makes sence to me! larger gap, larger chance of boost-blowing out the spark! been there done that. a smaller gap we go!

if you can keep it from blowing out with a larger gap then you have an advantage to have a bigger spark. i have a customer on 30 psi with meth with no ignition mods and he runs a .022 gap cuz his spark will blow out at .028. I run a .028 without a problem. if you have the dli2 try .028, and if u have a problem work your way down

Great advice nolimit, and josh. will "toy" with it and report the findings, just ordered 24 plugs, will set each set of 4 at different gaps! Gotta find the golden middle. Will have same alky settings, just change the plugs after a 30 mile ride around I465 (INDY), repeat till all plugs are compared!

'03 stock turbo w/ absolutely no ignition mods except new plugs. Stock turbos are capable of spiking to 34psi if you want. I misfire at higher gaps so 0.018 seems to work fine for me. If you have a HKS DLI2, I wouldn't worry about touching the gap on BR8ES's... just keep 'em at .028.

Or... better yet, you can donate your DLI2 to me. =]

Kev,

Since you have a HKS DLI 2, you can gap hell upto .30 with NO PROBLEMS. I used to run 1005 meth with 32 psi on the stock turbo and the gap had to be .20 at the most. Any bigger and my spark would break up. You will also notice a real smooth idle and better overall power.

you need to invest in one, because at .18 your car is loosing power. You will be very happy with the HKS. Heck someone on here is selling one for 400.00 grab it before it goes . You will then be able to gap upto .30 again, your car will run 10x better.

That blows manOfaith, I just saw your signature, I am from West Bloomfield MI, and my sister lives in Clarkston. I will have to look you up when I stop by to visit them! VTECH8TR, I am going to Clearwater, and Orlando between Christmas and New Year with my family, and will have the EVO in tow. You will have to fine tune the alky kit when I get there! Later.
