Question CAI, Works P1 Flash, little off on boost

OK, I have a Perrin intake installed,........sent my ECU out to Works, they flashed it for 6000 rpm launch, boost is suppossed to not fall off under WOT, and flashed it for the intake and an Agency Power BOV set to 50/50. Now, I still have my original JDM BOV on there, because I do not have the new BOV but will soon. When I hit boost I can get it up to 1.0-1.1, and hold it there,.......but I would like to be hitting 1.4 -1.5 or so where I am suppossed to be. What is the vacume suppossed to be when not using the turbo? My needle points straight down, around 45.........

NOw, I was having problems before I found out that some of the stock boost lines have beads, restricotrs in them, which are the short line coming off of the turbo, and the long line after the T from the Wastegate and the turbo. Once I put those in I noticed improvement. Now, I am running a little bit longer hose from the bottom of the intake to the Cellenoid, and a little bit longer hose from the BOV to it's connection. Will shortening these lines put me at boost where I am suppossed to be? Is it the lack of having the Agency BOV set to 50/50 throwing it off, or maybe could it be the Exhaust cannot handle the extra air it is taking in right now? I have checked and rechecked all my hoses, it is very unlikely I am leaking, considering I just put on a brand new stock cables from turbo-wastegate to celleniod ( all the others are aftermaket) Any suggestions are welcome, thank you.

Joe

I tried to warn you, but you didn't listen.

You don't get tuned for a BOV anyway, so that has nothing to do with your problems. Why in the world did you not have the stock boost lines in place already on a brand new 2006 Evo IX? Did you take them off or something??

Whoa, wait, what do you mean "I just put on a brand new stock cables from turbo-wastegate to cellniod (all the others are aftermarket)"??????????? Nevermind. I tried to point you in the right direction when you first bought your MR, but you preferred to listen to your "friends" who obviously are letting you screw up your brand new IX MR. Let me know when you're ready to start over and do things the right way...

So maybe they dont know as much as I thought. Anyway,.........how about a peace treaty? ANyway, when I put on my CAI my "friend" said you should put on an MBC, I was like OK, cool,.....so w/out him telling me I tore out the stock boost cables and replaced everything w/ aftermarket to the MBC........well, it wasnt working, sent out the ECU to Works and got it flashed for CAI and BOV, and when it came back put it in and took off the MBC, ............didnt know at the time the stock boost cables had pills in them..........anyway, so I had to order original stock cables, which I have on hte wasetgate, turbo all the way to the celleniod. Only not stock cables I have are the one from hte BOV and the one from the underside of the CAI to the celleniod. WHat do I do ?

Answered in PMs, but I do have a question. Why did you have to order a new set of boost lines? What did you do with the original set that came on the car? I'd keep the MBC in addition to the flash. I'm not sure right now what would cause the current boost problem. I think the MBC was hooked up improperly, because it should have worked fine. This probably can be tracked back to poor installation.

The originals got mutilated and chopped,.........stock setup does not allow for an accessible placement of an MBC............I should be running 21psi right now,..kind of turned off on the MBC............

Mutilated and chopped? Whoa, who did this install? The stock lines should have come off in one piece. Also, what do you mean that the "stock setup does not allow for an accessible placement of an MBC"? There are many places you can place your MBC. Again, who did this install? I fear that the whoever did it had no experience and did not use any of the writeups on this site. You're turned off on the MBC, because somebody screwed up the installation, I think. If you install it properly, it will work perfectly and will be 100% accessible.

Yeah, but if I am not hitting factory boost right now, I'm not sure if the MBC is the answer,............I wil try to get ahold of Works tommorow, they must have had the day off, ................maybe they can shed some light,..........

And, how does the setup go when you install an MBC...........I will be happy w/ 1.4-or 1.5, but right now my max is like 1.0-1.05...........

what is Limp mode I have heard about on the forum, and it seems a few people when they are not boosting properly are only gettting about 0.8-1.0 ,.............Could my wastegate be bad somehow??

How does the setup go? One vaccuum hose from the wastegate nipple to the associated MBC nipple, and one vaccuum hose from the turbo nipple to the other MBC nipple. That's it...all done.

Limp mode isn't normal in this case. People run minimum boost (11psi) all the time when they mess up their boost lines in some manner. You just need to follow the writeups and diagrams on here for installing an MBC, or find someone around you who has a clue about the Evo. This SHOULD be a very simple fix with the MBC you already have.
