Engine Problems

Yesterday while driving back to school in my O3 it started running out of gas. I managed to make it to a gas station by putting it in 5th gear going 35mph. I put gas in it and start it up and its still stalling out like it did when it was running out of gas. After school i let it idle for 45 mins and noticed that there was a little smoke coming from the exhaust. It was still stalling out and wouldn't reve above 3k. When i would try it would bog down and stall out. The only thing i can think of is if there was particles in the bottom of the tank and it sucked them up and started burning them off. The other is if the fuel filter is completely clogged. Anyone have any suggestions?
I need to figure out where the fuel filter is.

Bad gas maybe? i remember that a deputy filled his car up with desiel and it would not rev past 4K and was smoking bad. you will be suprised how clean your tank really is. i say check the gas that you bought first.

I would bet that you probably sucked all the sediment and crap out of the bottom of the tank. It's not a big deal to change out the fuel filter. If the fuel filter doesn't fix the problem you may have started to damage the fuel pump as the fuel actually cools the submerged pump.

Good luck.
