I am not sure what you mean by "shifting hard" exactly, but I would first try adjusting the clutch at the master cylinder rod to see if there is any difference (raise the engagement/disengagement point). Clutch adjustment problems are very common on the EVO, and affect high rpm shifting first, and then other times if the adjustment is further off. I have heard of this regardless of what clutch is used. There are other problems like syncros, etc, but the most common and easiest to fix is adjustment. If adjustment isn't right, it leads to other problems.

Sounds like you got syncro problems just like all the other 03 evos. Only other thing it could be is your clutch. What clutch do you have, how many miles on clutch, how hard do you drive evo.

i've noticed it pretty much whenever i got my clutch.... Exedy Twin Disk... it's only a noise.... it still shifts smooth.. you cant feel it AT ALL.. but with the music off.. and the windows down.. you can hear something grind between the shifts....

They did have a syncro prob. but in your case it sounds diff. to me. I dont know how much noise you are talking about. Chatter is common in after market high performance clutches and some noise will be common.

Also even my 05 evo with 1050 miles will grind at higher rpms it is a common prob. if the prob. gets louder i will have it fixed under factory warranty. I dont know how or what the noise is you are talking about though.
