I received and installed my exhaust tonight and everything went smoothly, however I noticed that the resonator had minimal clearance with the drive shaft. When I got the car back on the ground and took it for a test drive I heard a swiping sound, the drive shaft was infact touching the bpipe. I got home, checked it out and there was smeared metal from the point contact. I then fiddled with the rear hangers a bit and for the most part got enough clearance that during normal driving it doesnt seem to hit, however when going over bumps it does.
Am I the only one with this issue? If this has/is occuring with others what haveyou done to remedy this situation? The exhaust is top notch very high quality, everythign that i would expect but I dont like this point contact at all. I fear if it persists and the wall thickness of the resonator is not great enough a hole will eventually form in that location.
Hoping for some insight
thnx

Mine did that too! I had to have a custom bracket made to hold it from doing that. It used to do that when i turned but now its gone. Go to an exhaust shop and get one made really simple. Like 20 bux or so.

I had a problem at first with mine..and thought it was that..but it wasnt..it was the 02 sensor knocking againt the car..maybe your is that??...just take a rubber mallot an bang it in a 1/2 inch at the point of contact..and it went away..it could be that??

Oh it was a ponit contact with the bpipe and the drive shaft. I saw smeared metal form the bpipe.
Update: I was able to adjust the rear hangers enough to get the contact to stop, but now the muffler seems to be more off center (closer to the right). Can you guys post some pics from the rear and of the hanger that surrounds the muffler section?

I have had mine for 2 years now and the only time I hear any contact is at the track making severe turns under full boost...
Never, ever had a problem on the street with my HKS exhaust...

I havent had that problem, but mine rattles like crazy where the resonator is after the cat. Mine also hangs really low. Which hanger needs to be adjusted or removed or relocated to make it sit flush with the bumper?
If it is rattling near that resonator, I am willing to bet it is touching the drive shaft in the same location mine did. I found that if you "push" the muffler to the right side of the car, it moves the bpipe to the left gaining clearance with the drive shaft. If you adjust the clamp that supports the canister counter clock wise (if looking at the muffler opening) while pushing the muffler to the right that contact should stop. It worked for me after a long time of playing with it.
