EVO IX comes with an Aluminum BOV

Last night I was installing the INJEN hardpipe/intake combo on my new white RS IX (with only 620 miles on the clock!!.. haha) and I noticed a couple of things that stood out.

With the front bumper off - the ducting/shroud in the bumper for the oil cooler is much improved and direct than in the VIII. The ACD motor and ATF canister sits in place of the old intercooler sprayer. The ACD motor takes up most of the left lower bumper area. ALso, the turbo is really a lot bigger - but that's nothing new. AND the IX comes with an aluminum BOV. I couldnt believe this! Maybe the prev. gen MR's came with this BOV, I dunno the specs of VIII's later then my '03 - but I was impressed to see we had such a killer BOV compared to the old plastic one. Thankfully - one less thing to upgrade!

I'll post some pictures shortly. I'm really starting to love this stripped down IX. Weight difference and chassis balance is night and day compared to my VIII (with sunroof).

Yes, it's been mentioned many times that all the USDM IXs come with the JDM MR DV unlike the previous VIII's. That's why you don't need to bother upgrading BOVs on IX's...

I figured it may have been passed around before my post - but I was just really impressed with it. I didnt expect to see it there and actually was very much considering replacing the Forge I had in the VIII.

I really can't wait until I get it tuned, turn up the wick and get a nice set of MIVEC cams in it.

Yeah, hopefully it will be allowed on VIII's in AS and ESP now. It gets annoying switching that back to stock, but not as annoying as the MBC.

I think this only applies if the IX gets listed on the same line as the 8's in the rulebook...

Appearance-wise - the 9 DR looks more stout - but I havent strapped it down to the rollers with higher boost to test.

May be too early for anyone here to know if their 9 DR has had problems.

My IX MR is currently having boost issues. We swapped the valve and it helped out a little bit. Possibly a bad run of valves.
