running on 94 octane
1. By using a GT35R you will be limited to the boost you can run on ONLY 94 pump gas. The GT35R is a turbo that doesn't start to shine until you start running 25+psi, which you will NOT be able to run unless you use some form of injection or use race gas. On only 94 octane the GT35R will only yeild a fraction of the power you are looking for with a good bit of lag. Not the best selection for your needs.
2. You are better off using some form of injection like alcohol, water, or methanol because it is easier on the wallet and in some cases easier to get locally from the hardware store. Race gas(C16) cost $8 a gallon whereas methanol cost around $2 a gallon which will last you anywhere from 2-3 tanks of gas.
3. If your stuck on reaching 500-550whp on only 94 pump gas then you should buy a corvette and supercharge it.
4. Nowhere on your list did I see anything about building the engine! With 500-550whp on tap and no upgraded internals, your engine will most likely have a very short life.
5. You said you don't want to max it out because it will be your daily driver? What do you call boosting an engine to 500-550whp on stock internals? That is considered around/beyond the safety threshold. In my opinion, 450-475 is the max safe power you should run on stock internals. Keep in mind, this in no way, shape, or form saying that the engine will still be ok at this power level. Anything can happen when you mod an engine and it can happen when you least expect it.
6. The most important thing is the TUNE and the TUNER!
7. You need to do WAY more research on turbocharged vehicles. You don't understand how they work yet. Read, read, and read. Some of the stuff you read will be garbage, unfortunately you run into that on car forums. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't fully understand, but first use the SEARCH before asking. If SEARCH doesn't give you a link to the info someone can answer your question, but to be honest its been asked/covered a thousand times I gurantee it.
8. When you have the $$$ in hand, don't be afraid to call the shop that will do all the work and ask them questions. Most shops are more than happy to answer your questions. Write them down before you talk to them.

Well said. As for searching, I think you did the right thing by posting (the original thread starter). Im tired of everyone saying SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH!
I like to type and talk, and like to continue to elaborate on new AND old subjects, so ask away, I'll answer away.
EVOON....I always considered 500hp as the breach point of safety, then take it down 25 horsepower to be safe. So you're 100% right, 475 is good.
EVIL, you will not be able to run 94 octane and safely hit the 500 mark. Even with methanol injection, you still will not be safely doing it. A friend of mine snapped a crank running that type of power on pump gas and alchohol. Dave Buschur made a point that even undetectable detonation by a knock sensor, will "hammer" trhe hard parts into submission. So it is risky business. Running racegas with power like that eventually leads to someone being greedy and turning up the "go" knob until $hit just starts to break.
Heres what I think you should consider:
RnR and Buschur make some very nice kits. In hindsight, start with the block. Get your ARP headstuds, and buy a pair of GSC cams. 262/27? combo, and some AEM cam gears with a nice new cam belt. Buy an AEM EMS from a reputable tuner, some 880cc injectors, a fuel rail and FPR and a walbro 255lph fuel pump. \
I'd pick the RnR T3/T4 50 Trim with standard manifold. Its cheap and effective.
Buy an alchohol inection kit, an SS Autochrome intercooler (yes yes, I KNOW guys!) and Helix intercooler piping, with an EVO MR metal BOV. A buschur mini battery kit, and an ACT sprung hub street/strip clutch and some Espelir ASD lowering springs.
With that, and some race gas you should be able to safely nail the 475 mark without a hitch....hell, I know a kid who hit 419 on 93 octane pump gas and NO alky. As far as I know, that would likely be the cheapest, safest route to go.
great information again
now that i think about i proablly will run an injection kit, i didnt know they lasted that long(mentioned above approx 2-3 tanks of gas) but where whould i have it filled, also how is it held, is it a bottle like nitrous, and is it plumbed like nitrous?
ok mentioned above the gt35r kit whould not be used correctly at such low boost levels, well with the injection kit, and boost turned up to where the car whould have about 450-475 whp, whould the gt35r be running up to its potential?
also with the list of mods i listed a couples posts up, now with an injection kit, could the car be tuned to run good and safe to about 450-475 whp?

Visit some of the vendors website and see for yourself. Many of them show pictures next to the product listings.
Also, look at my times and mods in my signature. I am a good 1.7 sixty foot away from a high 11 sec run. I am having the methanol kit, bigger fmic, and MAYBE a tubular manifold added which should put me a little over 400whp/400trq. Right now I'm sitting at 373whp/385trq(C16 race gas) without the alky kit, fmic, and manifold. This is all done on a STOCK 03 turbo, not with a 10.5 hotside.

Hmm... lots of info in this thread... however, to stick with the topic of the thread...
Want 500whp? Get bigger injectors, a cat-back exhaust, walbro 255lph fuel pump, arp headstuds, a good tune, and everything in my signature. Cheap 500awhp. =]

so how bout
hks intake

buscher upper ic pipe
buscher race front mount and ic pipes
10.5 hotside
tubular manifold

880cc injectors
walboro 255 fuel pump
Aem Ems
Exedy Carbon Clutch
hks turbo timer
mini battery kit
defi, boost, egt, and oil pressure gauges
injection kit
what do you guys think about that setup, what kind of wheel horspower is that gonna pull probally
also whats the diffference between the different injection kits, ie alcohol, methonal, and water?
i was just looking on buscher and was looking at the alcohol kit, and i really like buscher so i will most likely go with that kit
and when you guys say you go to your local hardware store to get the alcohol, like what kind of alcohol is this? like i cant go to homedepot and get this can i?

And if anyone does want big turbo set up there are only three companys out there to trust
SLOWBOYRACING Indiana Pa, Buschur racing norwalk ohio, Ams Chicago Ill............
on a personal note these three companys all make/have the best performing/lasting parts out there.......

you seem to know what your talking about, look at the post above your first post, please tell me what you think of that setup and what kinda power do you think its good for, and what kind of 1/4 times
FIRST OFF THERE IS ONLY ONE BOV THAT CAN NOT LEAK BECAUSE OF ITS DESIGN
ITS A tIAL.....SECOND WHY BUY 880cc injectors 1000cc cost less and with aem ems 1000cc
will work the same a 880cc's but better because when you do want a bigger turbo, you already have what you need then...... the biggest thing is head gasket........ the stock mitsu headgasket is what Ams uses, and every one else uses... its the best. don't waste money were it doesnt need to be........wasted,, and a turbo timers are for little kids who cant sit still for 25-50 seconds...... feel free to ask any question i do have the correct answer
And if anyone who is reading this says hows that new guy know anything...??? haha
Well i have two evo's and have blown them up ran the hell out of them.. know the right people have gone 10's and tried every thing there is to try, on evo's and 1g's.... alson had 10second 1gs''' yah more than one............ still not enough well how many ten second cars have you had???

ok so then 1000cc injectors and a tial b.o.v. , question though, what size bov to go with?
and with that setup i listed above, what kinda power is that going to make and what kinda 1/4 mile times, with a good driver

no dick i dont have an evo
its called planning ahead, im trying to learn as much as i can about a couple different cars, and what there potential is with certain mods, to see if buying the car and modding it is worth it
if you whould have taken the time to look under my name you whould have seen what kind of car i drive

And on the general note of this thread, can someone tell me what it will take to get a supra around 1100-1200hp? Will I have to run premium, or can I get by with midgrade? As far as mods go, I was thinking about (insert massive list of mods totaling upwards of $40k here). How does that sound? Of course, it must be reliable as it will be my daily driver, so I don't want to push anything too hard. Anyway, I gotta go for now... my mom's yelling at me to take out the trash...
^LOL......if youre serious about making 500whp
