Case Study # 110 and 111 - Evo IX's with basic mods

Here are the two best running evos I have tuned to date

Both cars are Evo MR 2006 IX modified by Buschur

One is a BR330 package - air intake and cat back exchuast with Ecutek tuned ecu - customer modification (test pipe)

The other is a BR350 package - air intake, fmic pipes, cat back exhaust with Ecutek tuned ecu - customer modification (fmic)

BOTH cars use on on board boost control - no MBC of boost modification other than ecu settings and both cars are running very low conservative safe boost levels

I know the buschur md dyno reads very low but was wondering what kind of trap speeds can be expected (so I can get a better gauge of the hp)?

I wanted to say how MUCH I admire the care and effort that David Buschur places in these cars

They are picked up from the dealer in an enclosed trailer and taken to be modified.

The attention to detail, care and caution that is used is impressive

The kits are well tought out, work great and really create a fine machine that anyone would appreciate

I wish they would post up some pictures from the engine bay in the BR350 car - the work is so clean, and well thought out, David's design is almost like automotive art

The fact that its all done on a very resaonable and inexpensive price point for the customer and delivered with a full warranty is amazing

In fact the cost of the mods is just added into the original cost of the car with your monthly payment

When I was lucky enough to drive the IX BR330 car it was the best running evo i have driven to date. Everything works like stock or begtter than stock - no modded car clitches problems or issues of any kinds what so ever.

In every way this set up is an improvement without any draw back of any kind.

Next up - I look forward to tuning some Evo IX's with more modifications so we can see the true potential of this amazing machine.

Does the MIVEC cause the torque to not fall of as bad?

Or what is causing that?

evo ix is a great car to start modding from base. I am wondering how much whp is it possible to squeeze out from the stock turbo? Anyone with an idea? I am expecting to be in 370hp/350tq area.

The guy who bought the BR330 wound up with more power than the BR350

Looks like they both wound up with 350/360bhp???????????

Nice! If they come out with a BR450 or 500 I may have to pick on up in a year or so

Both cars are using 100% stock turbo boost control lines - hence some boost tapering and the TQ curve follows the boost

The TQ curves are normal for most evos - with the exception that they spool up much faster and harder than previous evos

The MIVEC is mostly about faster spool up - and better driveability - it odes not add power up top - I tried various settings and you cant get any additional power after 6,000 out of the MIVEC

I am not sure how far they will be able to take it while keeping on board and baking up these cars with a full warranty

The guy who bought the 330 had already taken delivery of it and he elected to swap in a off road pipe before his tune - this obviously makes a huge difference

I would expect most 330 cars to b e about 15 whp lower

I am very excited to test this out

Hopefully it wont be too long till we find someone who is headed in that direction

The intake cam may be a hurdle that will hold us back for a bit - more on that soon
