okay, I got an 05 (7K miles) with some bolt-ons...but lately (past week), I have been grinding 5th gear every time I upshift from 4th at 80mph (around 3500-4000 RPM, I think). I can recreate this problem every time, but it only does it when I'm accelerating, then upshifting at those rpms/speeds. When I'm just cruising around slower or not accereralting it doesn't do it. And yes...I have even waited to upshift until I have completely depressed trhe clutch to the floor and it still does it....I CAN'T be that bad of a driver...LOL...
To be honest, I only recall it doin it on a consistant basis since I changed my cams (last week)...I don't see how it's related or if I'm just now noticing it more. The grinding is very subtle but I can feel it and hear it more...maybe like it's gettin worse...
I don't want to go to the dealer...arggghhhh!
Anyway, somebody PLEASE tell me I am just a crappy driver and need to go back to driver's ed...

Sounds like your 5th gear synchro is going bad. There were a few TSBs for the 05 and 1 of them had to do with synchros, I think. Take it to the dealer and see if they will cover it under warranty. Here are a few things you can try to do to avoid causing further damage to your synchro:
1. Warm up the car before you drive it
2. Shift into 5 at low rpms
3. Shift slowly and smoothly
4. Change your tranny fluid to Pennzoil Synchromesh or BG synchroshift
Goodluck ...

Def sounds like 5th gear synchros. More than likely you'll have to either get your dealer to warranty them (search for mod-friendly dealers in your area), or let them get even worse and replace them at your own expense. If you need to shell out of your own pocket, get Jon from TRE's rebuild service for the tranny. Soooooooo well worth it. (www.teamrip.com)

Anyway, what I did was use 2qt of pennsoil syncromesh and 1qt of Lucas Oil Stabilizer. It helped alot with the 5th gear grind. However I've had the grinding problem for a couple thousand miles so I think my syncros are pretty much out.
So don't put it off. Hope this helps
