My point is that the Injen and HKS intakes also work well but they cost many times more and dont make any more power
Other intakes such as the K & N Typhoon and some other as of yet unknown blue thing which I have seen on a few cars the past couple of weeks usually wind up in dyno disappointments for my customers
At $80 the Buschur Intake works great and makes great power

Al, i'm asking you. if you use a K&n filter with the stock mass air pipe (not the typhoon) will the results be different??? or what if you used an Injen filter again with the stock mass air pipe? or an AEM filter with the stock mass air pipe??? would the results be different??? What kind of filter does he use??? I thought it was just a no name filter? A local guy over here had the actual filter piece fall off of the plate its glued to. buschur sent him another one so it was all good, but i think any cone style filter will yield the same results if used with the stock mass air pipe

One more thing for those who question my recomendation of Buschur Parts - I use the same parts on my 9 second race evo. From the race fmic kit to the fmic pipes - mini battery kit - alcohol kit - I run the same parts on my own race car
I went 9 seconds with the same standard 3" exhuast that they sell with every BR stage 1 - 4 kit. The stuff works.

However - in many cases when tuning you see that the VE table must be modified to compensate for distortions in the mass air flow
I can tune any air filter to a flat a/f curve like the one in the posted dyno sheet above - however in many cases it takes a lot more work to do so with some other filters
from what i have seen Buschur uses his own proprietary intake which is unique in that it incorporates the adapter plate into the filter itself which greatly simplifies installation

Here is the so called "HKS STYLE INTAKE KIT" which retains for the crazy price of $99 which has suddenly sprung up in mant of my customers's cars
Typical ebay china rip off garbage
BEWARE THIS POS intake
I call it the blue death
On this site they claim the following
Everything the Real kit has except the name!
The PRO-1 racing suction air Intake system includes turbo air intake pipe, high flow air filter, hose clamps, and all necessary hardware to install. After installation you can expect the quicker turbo spool, and the turbo will be noticeably louder then stock. Includes polished intake piping, and air filter.**Fits Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 8 Turbo.
Save hundreds on an intake by getting this life time warrantied PRO-1 made system!

i think i am getting a bit off topic now - which was first intended to just be happy about a car which came out great on the dyno and which made me hapy
BUT - what ever you do - don't get that blue death el cheapo intake

[QUOTE=DynoFlash]Here is a 2005 Evo with a
Buschur Air Filter - no mass air pipe
3" exhuast
264 cams
Forge MBC
Walbro pump
Custom Dyno Flash tune
22 psi peak falling to 20
93 Octane fuel
Note how well the Buschur Air filter works in metering the air flow. The a/f curve is like a flat line.
The changes needed from my mail in tune were so slight that a custom tune was virtually uneeded.
The simple, inexpensive, USA made Buschur Racing parts work well, out perform JDM parts which cost much more and they are simple to install.
I just added up the cost of the above items at www.buschurracing.com and the total was $1,935 with a lightweight battery kit. If you can do it yourself then not a bad way to spend $2K 'n change. Is there anyone that can beat that??
