gsnt, yes the seal is still there, but it doesn't seal. If you look at you can see light coming in through the sides. The seal basically isn't sealing. This is at least one problem we found.

I have tuned this intake aswell and they are a horrible knock off. I also would advise to stay away from them and buy a quality product such as the hks.

Along with the fact that the maf adapter leaks the othe main problem with this kit is the actual filter element and filter housing.

The HKS intake is designed to smooth out the airflow before the maf allowing for a proper reading, while this knock lacks that.

Atached is a picture of the HKS filter housing with the foam element removed, you can see how much design goes into building a quality product, such as this one. Also notice how the hks filter smooths out the airflow before the maf using vanes and a smooth transition.

Yep, HKS knock off my butt. The filter is a huge problem, but I agree the whole thing is garbage. I tried one of these out (not from Ebay) and it lost a ton of power. I bet it was 50whp or more. Didn't need the dyno to verify that. It also lost a ton of boost. Pure garbage.

 

Hey Al, If there is a problem with this type cause its a cheap knock off I understand. I remember seeing you had problems with the REAL HKS RS intake with bigger turbos " other then stock" cause it was to narrow at the bottom.

So would you " and others" say this intake system " REAL HKS" should be replaced? Or if you got the real one it is ok?

I bought this intake and the filter that came with it indeed sucks. I just got a replacement HKS filter and used that. Saved a ton of money over the real thing and it performs the same way. Saying this is total garbage is false since all you need to do spend a few extra dollars and get the real filter. The vendor who was selling it on this board also recommended the HKS filter over the one it came with.

 

I stand by the statment - AVOID this POS intake at any cost

wow i bought this hks replica RS brand new from someone a month ago and i only sold it yesterday because i didnt wanna install it without a tune. Crap. Now i feel like i just dicked someone.

Who was the vendor that was selling these on the GB section?

They were posting false information, apparently, stating that this item is an EXACT REPLICA, I think they STRESSED the point that its EXACTLY the same design.

Someone should ban that vendor? I feel bad for those people who jumped on it thinking its a 200 cheaper HKS RS.
