Speed Density and Alchy Question

You do NOT want to go richer in each gear. We have picked up about 3mph on the stock turbo just with this ability to tune this way.

Here's my very unbiased reasoning. I can do this because I have used both systems.
Yes my car does have the Maftpro in it right now, no UTEC. The UTEC is very good for what it is. It makes as much HP as the stock MAF will allow (somewhere around 500whp for accuracy) Logging is very simple and changing all your personal settings is also very quick and easy. Making maps needs a different program other than the default Hyperterminal which utec uses. Big deal? Not really. Tuning is very simple and the best thing the UTEC has is a knock light built into the CEL light on your dash, this is extrememly helpful while not logging or out on a very spirited drive.
The downfall to UTEC. NO UPDATES, and no blowthrough or speed density set-ups. I have been whining about this for about a year and the only response form TXS is very vauge. Im not going to list the thread becuase everyone knows it will be in the UTEC forum.
I have to disagree with you Scott (TTP) on this and the UTEC is not crap, it's under-developed. I had the UTEC in my car for over a year and it never gave me any problems setting it up or while on the road. Also before I forget is that the UTEC is not updated on the road there is the loading and switching of maps, kinda nice to store 5 different maps though.
On to the Maftpro.
I have been using this for about 2 months and love it. Running on stock ECU timing, no flash seems more powerful than my map running with higher timing using the UTEC. Why? Don't know. I am still very new to MAP based tuning, it's a little more tricky for me and hopefully Scott can give me a crash course when I visit him in a few weeks.
My initial thoughts on the Maftpro are: it's tuned almost like a S-AFC with a lot more options, very easy and no waiting of loading maps on the side of the road, digital display to look at with the ability to view 4 different variables at once. Very nice and compact. I never knew speed density could be so much fun. Cold-start issues in 3 degree temperature is non-existant, my car never has failed to fire yet, and I have worn out NGK copper plugs, with around 8k on them. And best of all, no MAF save yourself about 1lb by taking this off for all you weight saving people.
The downfall of Maftpro. No timing control as of yet, must hook up AIT sensor in UICP (not a big deal to me) and if you don't order the PNP harness you must splice into your stock wiring. No knock light, this is almost required to tune using the stock ecu, since sometimes it can be a little picky.
Overall I do like both systems but I went Maftpro because I liked what I read and basically joeymia's posts sold me. Like any EMS or piggyback out there, there will be pros and cons, it's a fact of life. the reason I don't run both systems because it is a little redundant (sp?). If Maftpro never came out I would still be happy I was using the UTEC.
Hope this helps on someones answer to either system, but I would choose maftpro as of right now. Just plain out better and cheaper. You just have to figure out what you want to do and if you want to keep the stock MAF or not.

To hear that and realize you don't even have a fully featured MAFTPro unit yet is great news. No electronic boost control, meth safeguards, map switching or a well tuned alky injection system.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for you. Once we get your system up and running, you are gonna be floored, literally
.
To hear you speak about this being better than your old tuning tool speaks volumes. Wait until you see a well tuned car with all of the features mentioned including the METHONAL FAILURE SAFEGUARDS.
I have finally spend tonight making a video as I promised of one of the safeguards of our methanol injection kits and MAFTPro tune. Unlike many of the posts in this thread, this one is on the subject of speed density and alky.
It is 3-4mb, so you'll have to wait a bit... Should be worth it.
