Turbo?

hey got a question for everyone out there and more specifcaly for AMS: The last time I talked you guys on the phone we talk about doing some mods to my evo. I told you how i thought i should go witht the 76r because I like the spool up, but u told me that the 35r with stroker would be the ultimate setup. I also told you that i wasnt sure if i could do it all in one shot because im buying the new Z06 so you told me to first do a stroker kit because in the long run it will be more benificial and that way i wont have to repeat things twice...

My question is to you and anyone else who wants to give there opinion is: i know AMS doesnt sell a bolt on turbo, but could you recommend one as just a temperory to go with the stroker motor plus head work and ems in spring i get the turbo kit, i really would like a little bit more power from my turbo, the 16g is great but it can only go so far and i would like something that pulls a little harder....

The white rabbit or 20g???

Thanks

To make sure I understand what you mean, are you saying that you want to put on a larger turbo so that you can go faster for the next 4 months in the New York Winter only to take it off and install a 35r in the Spring? You're saying that you can't afford to do the 35r kit now along with the stroker/EMS due to buying a Z06, but you DO have enough to purchase/install an upgraded turbo such as the WR or 20g?

yea, to do what i want to do with the evo it would cost somewhere between 22-26g's including a shep tranny.... i want to make the evo fast, but i still need to put a good chunk down on the Z06, these bolt on turbos are like a little over a 1g.... the set up i talked about with ams was going to cost around seven grand...thats a big difference then 26 thousand and i might need some of that money for the vette...so i figured id throw a slightly stronger turbo then sell it when and if i buy an AMS turbo kit, i may stop with just the stroker though depending on what i want to do with the corvette....there already in the tens with headers and head

Yeah, apparently you have a ton of money to throw around, so it's well beyond my comprehension level, but I think with a stroker and all that other mess, you will make gobs and gobs of both HP and TQ on the stock 10.5 hotside. You can get a little more with the WR and a bit more with the 20g, but what are you going to do with that power during the Winter in NY? I figure it would be more of a burden than aything having TONS of torque in the Winter with lots of snow and ice all the time.

I also didn't realize it would be 7k for a GT35r, so I was thinking of it as more of a 2-3k difference. 6k is pretty significant, yah. If you just absolutely have to have that extra 30-40whp over the Winter, then perhaps try out the 20g-9 from Buschur.

The IX20G looks very promising, go with that. I call dibs when you sell it!

Just to clear up i wouldnt drive any of these cars in the winter....

Im a little confused- "I also didn't realize it would be 7k for a GT35r, so I was thinking of it as more of a 2-3k difference. 6k is pretty significant, yah."

7k is for a stroker, head, fuel ,EMS, install & tunning....26k for everything i want to do...and i dont have gobs of money to toss around or else i would do it all, i just have enough to do somethings i want, but not all. I need to have enough cash to put down on the Z06 cuz i dont feel like havin a crazy car payment every month...

so the idead of a bolt on turbo could be something for just a season or it could be the only turbo upgrade i do....depending on what i want to do with the vette and also my finaces down the road

Thats a tough question. We have very little seat time with the white rabbit or the new 20G for the EVO so my opinions would not really be valid here. Honestly if i was in your shoes I would toss the stroker on the stock turbo and simply leave it alone till You want to toss on the GT35R. IT will be a very fun car and still make gobs of power. By the time it takes you to get tired of it you should be ready for a GT35R.

If you are asking for our recomendation on a bolt on turbo we really cant give one because we have not had dont any testing on the ones out there right now. Not enough to refer a customer to one anyway.
