RS drivetrain will it fit a GSR?
Would a RS transmissioin and LSD fit a GSR? And will the 2005 drivetrains fit the earlier GSR's? Is it the RS and all 2005's that have the shorter gear ratios for 2005?
Not sure what your end goal is.
If you want a front LSD, just buy a Quaife front diff from RRE, it has a lifetime warranty, which is rare in the aftermarket.
AFAIK, the RS and GSR gearboxes are the same, right down to the final drive and stamping on the case.
You can install a 6 speed on a 5 speed and vice versa, but you will need that model's shifter, cables and center console along with the trans mount on the pas side.

Transmissions from 03-05 are all interchangeable 5 or 6 speed doesn't matter. To put a 6 speed in a 5 speed car the shifter assembly is also required. I believe the 06 trannies will also swap, I see no reason why they wouldn't.
Transfer cases are all physically interchangeable. If you have an 03-04 GSR and want LSD, get an 04 RS TC, a quaife, or a ralliart LSD. If you have an 05 or 06, you have an LSD already. You can put an 05 TC in an 03-04 car, it will physically bolt up, but it won't work, the electronics and hydraulics are not in place to support the ACD. You can put a 03-04 TC in an 05 to eliminate the ACD, I don't know why you'd want to do this, and I don't know what this will do to the electronics of the 05 car.
Hope this helps!

Wow thanks that was very helpful and was what I was looking for. I could have sworn though I remember reading that Mitsubishi for the 05 models shortened the gear ratios on the 5- speeds.
