so hold the brake and gas down enough so u keep ur speed constant right....comparable to holding the brake down and gas at the same tyme in an auto for a lauch....i think

Alright, went back to the dyno computer again.

Pulled up the 20G-8 dyno run that we did no race gas, 376 whp pull. I also figured out the MPH the car is running at 3,000 rpm to 7,000 rpm.

Here is more interesting stuff.

3,000 rpm = 32 mph
7,000 rpm = 75 mph

This is right where you'd be rolling through town and honestly for me to run through town at 35 mph I would personally be in 4th gear, that's how I drive. So, if I was going to play I would only drop down to 3rd anyway.

The 20G-8 on race gas made 376 whp and ran 32-75 mph in 3.24 seconds.
The 20G-9 on pump gas made 331 whp and ran 32-75 mph in 3.77 seconds.
The GT35R on pump/alky made 365 whp and ran 32-75 mph in 5.91 seconds.

Here is the kicker. A Stroker, GT40R that has run 10.1 at 144 mph ran from 32-75 mph in 4.53 seconds! This is with a WHOLE LOTA boost. The lag is just killer. Car made 580 whp on our dyno.

The spool up is killer and as you can see very important for the street.

Dave can you do these runs in 4th gear? Like from 75-116 MPH or so?

This is all extremely interesting. I have to ask, do you have any times for a stock 16G turbo with all the bolt-ons?

I could do the pulls in 4th but I don't and won't. It takes way to long and I don't like the speeds the car has to hit to tune it. I prefer to tune in 3rd gear whether it's on the street or on the dyno. The gear loads the car enough to tune it properly and the pulls are over in much less time. Also, tuning in 3rd generally means that in the higher gears the AFR's, if anything will be a little richer.

Sorry, I'm just chicken I guess.

No need for apologies, i'm just use to the LS1 Scene where everything is done in 4th (1:1) i knew hondas and stuff dynoed in 3rd because of the lack of tq to turn the drums i just didn't know if at some point you went up a gear.

I increadibly impressed with your work.

i more thing why is the 20g-8 making more hp than the 9 in your comparison, are you still tunning it?

average power beats peak.. mooost timess....

also dont forget a wiley driver beats most of time...

even with inferior equipment.

as far as tuning.

its wise to start in 3rd, where the car has less time and less load to "cook".

most tuners will move onto 4th gear to fine tune the ... tune. myself included.

alot of higher hp cars wont respond to the load the car sees from the rollers in 3rd. With a high torque car even 4th, wont get the car loaded like the street will.

more load usually means more boost and higher fuel consumption.

most cars will also show more power in 4th than in third

more in third than in second

more in second than in 1st
etc

this is more drastic with turbo cars, but not limited to.

For example my old NA z06, showed more power in everynumerically higher gear.. until 5th where the dyno hit max rpm, and shut down.

How much is the 20G-9? And I think the numbers were higher for the 20G-8 in the comparison because it was on race gas where as the 20G-9 in the comparison was on pump gas.

+1 for this info because this might be the deciding factor on upgrading my turbo next. I'm running the stock turbo with Buschur's Stage 3 (264 cams) upgrades. How about some numbers for this one Dave....

Also, would this require another flash, too?
