RSR is a good choice. My friend has an RSR turboback and he made 335whp and 350tq on a dynopack. It sounds mighty nice too.

I have never heard a better sounding exhaust than the Greddy Titanium when I had it on my 2003. It was super deep and smooth sounding. I had 7 downpipes on my car and had problems with all of them but 3. The 3 that worked without problems are: HKS (65 mm), Stock, and Tanabe (2.75"). The fit perfect, no oil pan problems, or crossmember problems, or big crossmember problems. And they fit with all aftermarket lower arm bars without problems. The rest that I tried were:

Helix V1 (Hit big crossmember, cleared lower tie bars, close to oilpan)
Helix V2 (hit oil pan, hit crossmember, cleared lower bars barely)
TurboXS (interferred with both lower tie bars, TurboXS took it back)
Invidia (fits great, needs alot of spacers on tie bars, back one almost fits)

There are alot of people claim that the Helix DP fits good, but I have never seen one that did. I will never buy another Helix DP.

I thing the new Megan Racing DP is a very good product and is very reasonably priced.

It's got a nice deep tone. Check out this link. I'm not sure it still works. It's Derek888's whip running an Invidia downpipe and test pipe with the GReddy Ti.

sound clip

I was running a turbo XS 3" downpipe on my Evo 8. I just traded into a IX MR last weekend and want to get a different downpipe because the lower arm brace needed to be spaced out to clear the dp. I don't want to go that route on my IX, so I'm researching for a new dp … posssibly a Works Exhale DP.

Can you stick your finger between the DP and the oilpan? How close is the DP to the big crossmember above the DP? How close is the DP to the lower tie bars? If the clear all of these, I bet it is just barely.

There are more than a few Helix DP's that dont fit right. You are rolling the dice with a Helix DP, IMO.

I have never heard nor seen anyone post a problem with an HKS or Tanabe DP.... Those fit everytime without a problem.

As far as DPs go I think your best buy for the money is the DC Sport DP/Strait pipe combo. Its a one piece 3'' unit. You can get one for around $240 shipped. As far as exhausts go nothing is going to sound like a Sti. I know bcause I just totalled one Your best bet is a full titanium exhaust if you are looking to get a deep resonating sound and those cost $$$. RSR ex-mag and the megan units are the best bang for the buck imho...

Thanks for the vid! The greddy sounds nice, it's pretty much what I'm looking for. I think now I'm sure I'll be going with the greddy titanium with the RS-R downpipe for good measure I think I'll add a MBC, ecutek, and fuel pump.

i've heard the greddy ti tapers at the cat flange meaning it gets slightly smaller, is this true?? if it is do yall thing that would decrease its poerformance in any way?

I'd check out the HorsepowerFreaks exhaust. Full 3.5" all the way from the downpipe (or cat if you prefer) and a 4" in/out muffler. I JUST got mine on and it's nuts.

With that being said will the Helix or Invidia TBE's provide me what I'm looking for in a exhaust? I was also thinking about a Invidia downpipe mated up to a helix catback, any thoughts on this?

My Helix has 1 bend. haha.

I love it, I vote Helix.

Go with Bushur or AMS. You can't go wrong with them.

Yes. The GReddy Ti does taper at the front of the midpipe where it would mount to the cat. It goes from 3.15" (80mm) down to 3" (76.2mm). That's because 3" piping is commonplace here stateside. Most of your available downpipes, testpipes and hi-flow cats are going to be 3" to meet up with it. Damn standard vs metric system!

I wouldn't think the flow would be disrupted by it necking down there. The change would definitely be a hell of a lot less than just bolting up a 3" catback to your stock dp and cat!
