Where is the upgraded ACD system on their site? The only thing listed is a 05 TC with "optimized mesh zones for higher torque" which is refering to the mesh zone of the ring and pinion gears. This is done on all his TCs, 03-06.

How about you go to the page and copy and paste it for me, since I was just there and it isn't listed.

"Does not work on US Spec Evos"

Anyone know why?

Hey super hatch, what set up do feel is better in terms of longevity and strength...the 03-04 centerdif, or the 05 and up ACD?

would the ACD ecu not work with the US spec evos due to differently written ECU between the JDM and US versions? just a shot in the dark that came to mind, and if the ACD ecu interacts with the main ECU at all for that matter

here it is:

2005 TRANSFER CASE W/ MITSUBISHI-RALLIART LIMITED SLIP FRONT DIFFERENTIAL & ACD (active center differential)

Factory new transfer case with limited slip front differential and ACD. Mesh zone is optimized for higher torque. Heavy duty trash magnet is installed to keep the oil clean.

Call or email for details.

IMHO when electronics start getting mixed into a system that can be controlled just as simply through mechanical means, the reliability is compromised. IE - ACD vrs. Viscous, Electronic throttle vrs. a cable. However, this is simply my OPINION and not necessarily true, and to be honest with you is probable stemming from my background as a mechanical engineer. Performance-wise the ACD offers some true advantages. Also, the fluids within viscous couplings break down over time, degrading their lockup performance. The hydraulic fluid cooled/lubed clutch pack in the ACD may in fact be a more durable setup. To be honest with you, only time will tell.

You do realize that you just quoted exactly what I quoted. And I explained that the "optimized mesh zone" has nothing to do with the ACD, and everything to do with the mesh zone of the ring and pinion gears. *sigh*

As a matter of fact, YOU QUOTED ME saying that!!!

I spoke to Jon a while back and he said that the 05 lsd are very strong and, somewhat close to a Quaife. As far as i know, no one has broken a 05 tc yet!!

I totally agree with the statement that when electronics are introduced to control mechanisms that work almost perfect on their own it reduces reliability and longevity.

(side note) Hey Hatch what to you specialize in engineering?

I believe that's the one to look at. From what I've heard they offer a Plug n Play for the Evo, but I'm not 100% sure. I'll try giving them a call later this week to see if they offer anything.

Regards,
Max Cudich

From what Scot Gray talks about over on SoCalEvo.net, most thing don't start breaking until around 400whp...so that's the kind of people we need responding to this thread, and not 16 year olds who rev to 8,000, drop the clutch and then complain about things breaking.
