Does the stock ECU require the Evap stuff to run?

ok this is the story... I finally got my transmission back and installed a twin disc. I also installed an alchohol kit and the MAFT Pro. While waiting for the transmission I removed both bumpers and all the evap stuff (The two rectangle things with some solenoids on them from under the car next to the gas tank on the passenger side).

Now when I started the car up it sorta ran for a little bit and then I would need to give it 20-30% throttle just to keep it running. If I try to move it the car stutters HARD. The MAFT Pro 'seems' to be working as I can see the airflow hertz and they seem to be relatively close to where they should be. I can not figure out whats wrong and Im thinking the Evap stuff may be screwing it. Anyone got any ideas?!?

It doesn't but it will throw a CEL.

It's most likely your MAFT...

Thats what I was thinking but figured i would throw that out there just in case. I have around 14 CELs anyways.. not concerned with one more

I just cant seem to figure out whats wrong the MAFT.. the hertz its sending out 'seem' to be correct but I guess who really knows considering it wont even idle on its own. And for some reason if I try to drive it and get it to a cruising speed (Aside from the little hiccups and whatnot) the car runs at 10:1 while cruising... I cant seem to get the UTEC to fix it either. I guess I will try to revert back to the stock MAF and see if it runs and if it does try to debug why the MAFT Pro aint working.

Hmm - from the OE manual it looks like the ECM sends a signal to the Evap purge selenoid based on the Barrometric Preasure sensor, the IAT Sensor, Coolant Temp sensor and the "Volume Airflow" sensor. The MFI relay also comes into play. Nothing is showing any kind of return signal to the ECM; althought the manual doesn't always show everything.

I'm also assuming you've already capped of the line heading into the intake system. I'd also try removing the MAFT as my next testing step.

(oops - you posted ahead of my response, lol)

The line used to go to the EGR which is removed so i dont think the Evap was technically doing anything other than being an airfilter for the gas tank.

Got it! Odd question for you; have you tried just reconnecting the selenoid just to see how the ECM reacts?

Not yet... I have been stuck at work all day today and will be tomorrow as well. I will get to the car on Thursday to try to fix it. It doesnt help that it is -5 degrees F outside either

My first step will be to try to get the MAFT Pro to compensate for my injectors, second step will be to reinstall the stock MAF and hook up the airflow wire again and disconnect the MAFT Pro. If all that doesnt work, I will try to hook up the solenoid. If that doesnt work Ill buy a new car
