We make an intercooler that will work with the 20g very well. It is a bar and plate design that will flow 1250 cfm. You should not notice a decrease in spool time at all.

If you can wait a couple of days, I will be doing a complete write up on the Nisei Intercooler. I will have pics of the intercooler, install, and (although not directly related) dyno numbers. There will also be a comparison of the Nisei intercooler pipes vs. a few of the competitors. I think, you will be pleasantly surprised about the quality of this unit. I think it will be a very good choice for you.

Here is my HKS R spec.

Weight is almost like stock (I didn't put it on a scale)

I installed this IC two weeks ago and I love it. There's no pressure drop or lag at all. In fact, I think its boosting faster and harder now with the HKS IC. I am holding 1.5 bar tapering to 1.4ish up top. With the stock IC...it was 1.5 for 2 seconds and then taper to 1.2-1.3 till redline.

Thanks,
Tom

The Nisei, AMS, and Buschur are nice units. The Nisei is heavier than the stocker (by a decent margin) and the Buschur Deluxe is even slightly heavier. But at that point, the intercooler also makes a good heat sink because of the added mass. I think the AMS is lighter. THe choice for me was between these 3, and I went with the Nisei. You really can't go wrong with any of those, though.

I have the AMS intercooler and I was surprised how much heavier than the stock unit it is, however, I was also surprised at how much bigger than the stock IC it is, so it makes sense it would be somewhat heavier. I noticed no psi drop with it and the AMS LICP from stock, actually it seemed to hold boost better. Thumbs up to AMS for a great intercooler, I'd recommend it to anyone.I also like how it looks with the black AMS logo
