VTECH8TR, you talked to him on AIM, too?

I think the IX is weak as hell,

I like my 04 9.8 HS VIII and I don't feel ripped off at all paying about the same for it

It's the Buschur Racing DP.

It'll be interesting to see the kind of numbers people start making when someone goes all out as far as bolt-ons go. I'd like see what I IX with an exhaust cam is installed along some hard pipe, ECU tune, MBC, and TBE (with a high flow cat) would do on pump gas. We might be able to see 350 - 360 whp on pump with just bolts-ons... Perhaps even a bit more. Still up in the air on an intake. From what I've read, the census is that the HKS is the absolute best, but it seems that with it HKS putting the cone right in the engine bay without any kind of ducting to get fresh air to it you wouldn't see as great of gains as you'd think; especially after about 5 minutes into a 20 minute heat.

Same here brother. I used to love my car until I found out how slow it really is compared to 9.

"lets market an Evo 8 in the US for 03 with impressive road testing #'s but first restrict turbo energy with a smaller HS and sell the proper one in 05, and then in 06 we can use our available mivec technology, and give it an 89 oct tune and squeeze all of the exhaust gasses through tiny tubing so environmentalists can be happy. Now the consumer will have to buy a new car every year and will need to modify it to make it run right so we can cut our warranty budget"

Man where have you been, this has happened forever with cars. You release a platform and improve on it. I know you are porbably upset as well as other members that own an 03-05. But knocking Mitsu isn't going to help any. Bottom line is you have an evo, so enjoy it and don't worry about the rest of them. You can't fault Mitsu for improving an awesome car as it is. Heck we are lucky we got them into the states .

I have seen several members here trade in their 03 for and 04, then 05, and now they are tradding in for an 06.

I agree... At the end of the day, you have an Evo; one of the best cars that Japan has ever produced. It doesn't really matter that a new model makes more or less power than the previous ones because at the end of the day, there's always, always , always going to be someone faster. Always. The only thing that we can really say about the IXs so far is that without opening the block. the potential for making power seems to be a bit better. After a turbo upgrade who knows if this will still be the case... All Evos rock. I mean bone stock you're talking about a car that matches/exceeds the performance of cars that in some cases are double the price. If you own an Evo, whether it be VIII or IX you have arguably the best dollar for performance car in world.

Hey I was talking with him too on AIM. I helped him decide on the new exhaust set up. I told him that was too good of a deal to pass up. You are making some nice numbers now. Congrats.

BTW, does your boost taper still a little with the Forge UNOS MBC. Mine holds 21 psi for a long time rock solid then tapers about 2 to 3 psi by 7500 RPM?

Sorry it took me so long to get this graph posted... we have been having problems with our server at the shop and I haven't been able to post any graphs from the dyno computer till now.

Here is the graph.

Run#1 is the Baseline as the car came into the shop... bone stock.

Run#7 is with Buschur Downpipe, HKS catback, Forge MBC, and our Ecutek Reflash.

What amazes me is this car makes more power than most cammed evo8s do on our dyno. Infact the highest HP evo8 without cams to dyno on our Dyno to this date has made 315hp, and that was a 2005 Evo MR that I ecutek'd. I would expect to see this car gain even more if he lost the cat and went with a test pipe, but that isn't something we wanted to remove being such a new car.

Thanks for posting the chart Doug... The car feels absolutely amazing... The boost taper isn't anywhere near as bad as it was with the stock boost control system. As you can see from the chart, it's making peak whp at around 6300 and only drops off about 40whp to redline...

Btw, you're now making more power than I do on race gas when running 12.0s. I'm feeling sick.
Yeah your not the only one feeling sick.....
