Buddy Club cams = 12hp & 4ft/lbs???

Anybody check out the recent issue of Turbo and High Tech Mag. where they tested a set of Buddy Club's, I think 264/264 cams and only got the increase that I mentioned above. Did anyone read this can this be correct?

Those numbers are probably before tuning to extract the full potential the cams offer, maybe?

I've got the article at home and for some reason I seem to remember that was a tuned number, but I will check later.

11.5 whp and 4 lb-ft over stock. Got the magazine right here.

They're only 264's.

those are peak numbers... did it pick up more power through the band? i'm assuming so. maybe it was done to a stock evo... there has to be more to the story.

Exactly.

Those numbers don't seem right at all, even for just 264's.

I don't know much about the Buddy Club cams themselves, but that seems very strange as their products usually offer a much better performance/dollar ratio!

I think those numbers are insufficient with supporting mods. I got 264/272 combo with stage 1 mods... gained almost 25+whp and 25+ tq....

I'll have to check the specifics of the article again but if I recall correctly they dynoed after adding each part and at least made some fuel adjustments for the cams.

The car was already tuned, had Greddy TI turbo back exhaust, DC sports exhaust manifold, and samco IC hoses. The car was dynoed at 301.9 hp and 262.4. THe article states that the 264 BC cams were added and the car was returned and picked up 11.5 hp and 4.0 ft-lbs of torque. Those numbers are correct as stated above and the car was tuned. Doesn't sound like a big gain compared to other cams on the market.

Hmm could be a tuning issue, their torque number seems a little low.

Are those just peak numbers? I would like to know what the largest gain was in the powerband (not necessarily peak)

Buddy Club cams have the same specs as HKS cams. I made almost 340whp and over 340wtq with my Buddy Club 264/272 cams and basic mods. I would say its a tuning isssue

Hi,

BC 264/272 here. 331 HP and 338 TQ dynojet uncorrected with a custom dynoflash tune, 93 octane pump gas, a RT HF cat, and K&N panel filter. These cams work great. I bet if you compare the curves in the upper rpm, the gain is substantial. There will be a peak increase, but also gains under the curve. It transforms the car.

Basically, the HKS, GSC, and Buddy Club will probably perform very similarly.

Take care,
