Reflash for your ACD Controller

Hello All,

I was just wondering if any of the companies out there have looked into the feasability of reprogramming the ACD control box. It seems as though it works similar to an ECU - it takes data from inputs, runs through its programming, and outputs a signal to the ACD. It would be cool to mess with the lock rates of the ACD to tweek them and come up with your own settings, rather than be stuck with Mitsu's 3 choices.

Maybe one setting with it fully locked at all times for drag racing, one setting for Autocross or Road Racing, and one setting for inclement weather.

Just an idea. I'm sure someone out there has already thought of this, so let me know if it is or is not possible. Thanks!

Ralli-Art has an ACD replacement control module. I asked a while back about it but nobody really had any info on it.

I think cyber evo is doing this, but I'm not sure as I don't speak much Japanese.

Yes, Ralli-art and other Japanesse companies have modified ACD ECUs, but they won't work on USDM cars. Now someone with tuning experiance (Hello, SHIV), needs to get some of these JDM ACD ECU's, study them and figure out how to flash the USDM ACD ECUs.

I think the reason the JDM units don't work is because they also control the AYC. Since the AYC inputs/outputs are not used on the USDM version it creates an error code.

Rather than working on bypassing the AYC stuff, I think the easiest thing (for someone with the tools and the knowledge) would be to reprogram the stock unit.

These controllers can be used on the RS evos (jap ones) and they don't come with the AYC diffs.

Keep in mind that Ralliart sell two ACD controllers, one for the street (slightly more aggressive maps than standard) and a race one (quite aggressive compared to standard), i've heard that the race one isn't recommend for street cars as it could wear out the centre diff.

It isn't much of a problem for the race cars as they can just tear the thing down and service it but this could be a hassle for a street car.
