Actually I have an ecu+ and I have installed everything on my car myself which includes TBE, TurboSmart EBC, intake, wideband a/f system, and an egt gauge. On top of that, you don't see me writing a bunch of bull**** acting like I'm an expert tuner.

I don't claim to know a bunch about evos, but I do know that what you wrote is wrong, and it pisses me off. Someone is going to try to actually do something by themself, and they are going to hurt their car because of mis-information provided by you. Luckily Warrtalon caught it yet again.

What pisses me off more is your rude tone in your first response to the starter of this thread, acting like your above him. He asked a question, and unless you know the answer, don't reply.

issues,
All of your posts were deleted because you are posting mis-information that is potentially very dangerous to an Evo. Do not continue to do so.

As Warrtalon stated it is very simple, an evo should be tuned for low to mid 11 AFR. The reason you see 14s is because that is the transition point when the car goes WOT from closed loop (14.7) to open loop when it starts to run off the fuel map.
In general you will see the drop from the 14s down to about 11.5 with a slight taper up at the end towards 12.0.

Everyone,
I deleted some of your threads in an attempt to clean this thread up. They were all primarily responses.

Yes, you can. It won't be as good, but it's better than nothing. Along with the S-AFC, you will need to buy the Fields Harness (or Boomslang harness), a wideband o2, and a logging device. The cost really adds up, and in the end, it's not as good as a flash, but at least it gives you the flexibility to retune yourself when adding mods.

as warrtalon stated, yes you can. It wil do nothing for timing changes, which you will greatly benefit from when doing cams.

The ECU flash is one of the greatest bang for the bucks! In my opinion, this should not be an area to try to go cheap or convenient. The tuners in the states know what they are doing and can flash your ECU correctly the first time. Even if it takes 3 weeks to turnaround the ECU, I'd definitely get the flash from a reputable shop. You may have a good source outside the states that can do the flash, if so that's great! Just make sure you trust them.

I know it sounds like a pain in the a$$ to send the ECU out, but it will be well worth it in the long run imo.

Warrtalon, Are the AFR's that you included in an earlier post on this thread valid for Cali pump gas? I am running under 11:1 until redline right now, and I would like to pull a little more fuel out if it is safe. I had it at 11.5:1 before, but I richened it up because I was worried about running to lean. However, the egt's never went over 880C, and the motor felt much more powerful than now. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to go in the 10s on 91oct, but you probably want to stay in the low-to-mid 11s. I haven't ever tuned on 91oct, though, so I can't say for sure.

What you need is to do some tuning at 11.3-11.5 and log your timing. That will tell you what works best.

I had to wait several weeks with just installed cams to get my tune. I gained absolutely nothing from acceleration tests I did UNTIL it was tuned, untuned it felt agressive but it was rough.

Can't you change the connecting rod bolts by just dropping the oil pan, with the motor in the car? Thanks
