The difference between the V1 and V2 are simple. its the polishing of the lobes. there wont be any performance differences at all. By polishing the lobes rather than coating it will allow for faster break in's. just so you don't feel bad our own evo has 264/264 mixmatched cams. and made 341whp at 25psi.

When i get back from Christmas break i will messure the HKS cams and compare the numbers of ours to the hks setups.

Depends on the ramp profile also. If you honestly think all there is to a cam is duration and lift you need look into this more. I can give you two cams with the same numbers that perform drastically different depending on the ramp profile.

Of course, but considering that ramp profile never seems to be a measured or publicized specification...how is one supposed to determine that?

Further, is a more favorable ramp profile enough to overcome lesser lift and duration?

 

Honestly the only way to determine it is real world testing, which I realize is totally cost prohibitive for an indivdual.

I'm not sure, I've never tried a cam that had less duration and lift, but I have run cams on DSMs that have near identical specs, but radically different ramps. The FP3s pick up nearly 40hp on the top end on a stroker engine, but have no more duration or lift than the FP2s:

As you can see the FP3 gets near full lift much quicker and holds the valve there longer.

 

But why overlap on a turbo car?

 

Let's all back up here, how can you make this claim? Have you tested every cam on the market on the same car in the same conditions and you can prove this?

 

There have been a couple post reguarding this, one that strikes my memory was done down in PR where several evos all with similar mods got dynoed and the ones with gsc cams made about 5 more whp across the board comparably. It would be nice to have some raw data though with the same car being dynoed.
