GSC Cam Spec Release!!!!!!!!
Happy Holidays form GSC! We wanted to put to rest what makes our cams far supiriour than the competion by releasing our key features and cam Specs. Please read below and if there are any questions i would be happy to answer them.
Key features: Redesigned profile for smoother valve motion, can be used with stock valve springs (V2 Upgrade)
Broadest power increase of any Evo cam on the market
Industry leading tolerances .0001
1 year warranty
Micro polished lobes for reduced friction and faster brake in
OEM chill casting core technology
Idle is near stock
Can be used with Stock Valve Springs
The 264 Duration Cams:
Peak Lift is 10.64 in and 10.01mm exhaust
Total Duration is 268
Duration from 1mm to 1mm is 194
The 272 Duration Cams:
Peak Lift is 10.64 in and 10.01mm exhaust
Total Duration is 281
Duration from 1mm to 1mm is 203

A few questions, just to clear up a few things for me:
I'm a bit confused...is this the spec release for the cams that you've been selling all along or is there a new camshaft being released with these specs?
What is the V2 upgrade that you mention in the first sentence of the key features?
Finally, are the 281 and 268 durations at the same valve lift as the HKS cams?

No they have more lift. I don't have the specifics handy but I can post them when I get home. This is why the comparison between the GSC 264 and the HKS 264 really isn't "fair" IMHO.

The V2 Cams the polished lobe cams, have all been this setup. the specs for the V1 Cams are exactly the same as the V2 and that are listed above. the main difference is the polishing of the lobes to promote smoother valve motion.
There is no difference or any new product being released i just wanted to put to bed the differences. so people don't think that the HKS and GSC are the same thing. there are differences.
as for comparing these to HKS it is not the best idea. I don't know at what lift they took there durration messurements at so i can't even comment. If i had a couple of sets to messure i could compare.

well less lift than the HKS for sure...
It's too bad that the differences between the V1 and V2 camshafts extends beyond one being painted and one being polished, because GSC has sent out mismatched pairs to customers...me being one of them. Now I find out that the polished cam is a V2 upgrade, after being conveyed by GSC that there were no discernible differences.

How is it that they supposedly make more power?
Proven results is all I care about. People can play the number game all they want, in the end they're still just looking at numbers. I've had the 264's on my car for quite awhile now and couldn't be happier with them. I've posted the gains I recieved my adding the 264/264 combo and it doesn't even come close to anyone else's cams.

It's never crossed my mind to go with another company for my upgrades and hopefully soon I'll have some more results of the 281's.

I think people may be mis-reading the cam specs. The values given are dependent on how the measurements were taken. Until you have values for each cam that are measured in the same reference you are peeing in the wind.
