evo spun out... now CEL

hey all... kinda wierd thing...
when going out to lunch... someone thought it would be fun to goof around in the parking lot...
in the process of doing so... an evo was taking things a lil too wild... next thing ya know... the dude spun out and the car stalled...

the car took quite a bit of effort to fire up again...
that's not the problem though... the CEL came on...

i'm stumped!... what could the light be? think any damage could have occured in this process aside from feeling like a retard? i don't have a code puller on me so i can't pull the code right now on his car....

any ideas?

Go get the code pulled from AutoZone...it's free.

I've had it happen to me at the track when i spun the car and the CEL came on. Can't remember exactly what it was. Just ended up resetting it after talking to a tuner.

anyway, just get the code read.

if it took a while to turn back on it was probally flooded with gas which most likely threw "DTC P0172: System too Rich" code

"if you spin, both feet in (clutch and brake)"

You can damage the engine by spinning the car and not depressing the clutch.

Pull the code and good luck.

Friend's 911 needed a re-build. I don't know the specifics.

DISCONNECT the negative terminal on the battery for 10 minutes, reconnect. done. You dont need a code read, it was probably rich, the wheels were going at different speeds etc... your ECU recognized that as abnormal, and wants you to take the car in to see why that happened..........................you know why it happened. reset as above, have a nice day!

Often there's nothing actually wrong. Reset it. If it comes back, have it checked out.

I once stepped on my "crank" when I got out of the shower and pulled my back out. That is an example of cause and effect. (ok a little exagerated), but the light came on because you flooded the engine. do the battery thing now, and report back, so this thread will stop. the ideas are getting creative though!

Thanks DC, back to the "cause and effect" : what you did driving (cause) made your CEL light come on (effect), you flooded the car, wheels spinning faster, your ECU thought you were driving 80MPH, dumped fuel in. Just do the battery first.

The light comes on to get you to take the car to the dealership because the ECU recognized something "abnormal". The dealership would pull the code, and say "YOU FLOODED IT"! but you know that from what we are saying, and the fact it was hard to start afterwards. You know what caused the abnormality. just disconnect the battery, and wallah, CEL light OFF.
