I spoke with David this morning about this. He is more than willing to do the test with our Race FMIC Vs. the Nisei. If someone wants to volunteer to send us their Nisei FMIC we will do the test, post the results and send it back to you.

Please let me know if someone is interested in doing this.

Thanks

Hello guys, Jarrod asked me about the test. I want to chime in.

First out Race FMIC is the largest area as it comes in at 1152. It's 24x12x4. It is priced at $850. I also feel our core is superior to most others, many companies on this poll use the same core manufacturer we do so I can only say some

Anyway. I would love to do a comparison test of the Nisei against ours. If I do it I'd like to have some witnesses here so I don't get accused of messing with results. The dyno is the end all place to do a test of an intercooler but it is about as good as any as far as I am concerned. I'll atleast keep the testing consistent and measure boost levels and air temp. Easy in my car as it has an AEM on it with both sensor already in.

Now would be a great time to do this testing too as the front fascia is off my car anyway so it's easy to swap back and forth.

I think something else to consider is intercooler plumbing. We have intercooler plumbing kits that fit ALL of our FMIC's.

If this test comes to be I'd also like to test our standard core against the Nisei, I think it will be interesting to see how good even our smaller intercooler compares.

We might just call and buy one on our own.

That is what we are going to do. I have to wait until they open so I can call. They are in Cali so they are 3 hours behind us.

I do not agree. The frontal area is not what cools down the intake charge. It is the internal area where all the internal and external fins interface with the bars or tubes. THIS is where the heat is transferred.

One thing the larger frontal area is good for is creating more drag.

Do you guys have any interest in also testing an SSAC (eBay special) intercooler. I have one laying around I will ship to you at my expense. I'm right up in MI, so it could be there in a couple days.

David,

Is your boost controller hooked up to intake manifold pressure or turbo outlet pressure?

If it is the former, when you do the test is there any way you can log the pressure both before and after the IC?

The Deluxe Front Mount I/C is $750
The Standard Front Mount I/C is $650
The Nisei Front Mount I/C is $695

Those all seem pretty similar to me.
