HK$ 30th cat-back broken hanger
HK$ 30th cat-back broken hanger
Yesterday, I pulled into my garage and noticed my exhaust sounded different. It sounded like I had an exhaust leak, so I climbed under my car to inspect for leaks and found this:

The hanger that broke was the only one that wasn't supported by two bars. I'm sure part of the failure was caused by me using the karboy polyurethane hangers. The welds held up fine, but the piping material didn't.
I ended up getting the hanger rewelded back on at WORKS. I had them add more weld to help support it better. If it breaks again, I'm going to add a support for it.
FYI, my HKS 30th anniversary exhaust has about 19k miles on it.

For the amount of time and effort it would take to remove my entire exhaust, deal w/ a shop or representative, packaging, and shipping, I felt the easier solution was to just get this one fixed.
After doing some searches on hks exhaust pictures, I realized that my hanger was different from all the pictures I've seen. It's missing a support on the hanger circled below. Thanks to Option2 of NCE for the pic. I took this pic from his for sale thread.

I guess I should get a support for this hanger before it breaks off again.
