How To: Powerflex Motor Mount Bushing Install

Tools Needed
Philips Head Screwdriver
14mm and 17mm Sockets, 3in extension and Ratchet
14mm Wrench

Step One
Remove undertray by unscrewing all pop tabs and then use a jack or a stand to support the motor before you remove the front motor mount.

Step Two
Using a 14mm Socket and Ratchet remove the three bolts holding in the crossbar.

Step Three
Using the 14mm Socket, Ratchet and Extension in conjunction with 14mm Wrench remove bolt in center of motor mount.

Step Four
Remove front two bolts with 17mm Socket and Ratchet.

Step Five
Remove the rear bolt with a 17mm Socket and Rachet. This is the last bolt that needs to be removed before the motor mount can be taken off the car.

Step Six
Now that you have the subframe off the car there are two more bolts to remove. Using the 14mm Socket, Ratchet and Extension remove the two bolts holding the motor mount to the subframe. Make sure you note which way the motor mount came off the subframe as you will have to install it in the same orientation.

Step Seven
Remove the center bushing from the mount. This can be done in a numerous amount of ways. If you have access to a press this is the easiest method. If not you can cut out the rubber part and then bang out the center metal ring. Others use a piece of piping and a vise to press out the bushing.

Step Eight
Use the grease supplied to lube the center of the motor mount and well as the center and outside edge of the Powerflex Bushing. Once grease push the bushings into the motor mount. Now you can insert the metal insert. If it doesn’t slide in easily which it didn’t for me you can find other ways to insert it. I used a vise to press it into the bushing.

Step Nine
Remount the motor mount to the subframe. Make sure you face the motor mount in the correct orientation as you had removed it.

Step Ten
In reverse start screwing in all the bolts. Don’t tighten them fully just make them snug. You may need a second person to help you line up all the holes.

Step Eleven
Now take the EVO for a rip and bang some gears at 8k with no problems.

edit: I will add pics once I resize them all and if anyone has suggestions or comments let me know and I can add/edit them.

Here is a diagram provided by justchil

Yea I am super happy with the results of it, I just went out for another run with the car and shifting is so much better. You do get some vibration at low rpm but its nothing that out weighs the benefits.

Looks like I need one of these for my high rpm shifting problems. Thanks for the instructions. Pictures would be even better

I'm assuming this is for the front only and the front is only require at this time?
