05 EVO, 6500 miles, resurface OEM flywheel or not?

Hello, I just wanted to get a general consensus of the proper thing to do when it comes to changing out the clutch. My tuner already gave me his take on this but I came from the old Honda camp where it was the rule of thumb to always resurface the flywheel everytime you're putting ina new clutch.

anyhow, my EVO is an 05 with 6500 miles on it. I will be putting in a new ACT clutch and was wondering if I need to resurface the stock flywheel.

please discuss in a respectful and intelligent way.

Mileage isnt really the problem, its how marked up the flywheel is. If your clutch already went bad at 6500miles then imo I would imagine the flywheel is going to need resurfaced.

did you actually blow the clutch @ 6500 miles???? because to me if its blown @ 6500 miles your looking @ some possible major heat damage to the flywheel....

Id resurface it to be safe, its not expensive and its a pretty essential part to make sure the system operates in the best possible way.

Its out.. and not going to be that much more to resurface it.

I would definately recommend it everytime changing out a clutch. Just added insurance.

if you burned your clutch in 6500 miles, the ACT isnt for you. You will burn it in short order as well. Better upgrade to a twin disc. Here is how i see it. You put in a ACT. Burn it in short order. Get tired of going through this expense then get a twin disc. However if you would have done the twin disc one burned clutch earlier, you would have saved $500. Moral of my story is to just do it right now, and save cash and time later........hope this helps. Ray

To save some money, plus I heard the lightened flywheel is only like 4 pounds lighter.

if you truly didn't abuse it the original will be ok to reuse as-is.
