Rear o2 sensor question

This may be a really dumb question or a really good one, so here goes. Im currently running a 3" BR turboback catless exhaust. Im running the Buschur o2 simulator with no problems at all.

I just purchased a wideband and am curious about one thing. Can I remove my stock rear o2 sensor and leave the o2 simulator installed without getting a CEL? If I can do that then all I have to do is install my wideband in that bung rather than taking my DP to a exhaust shop and having a o2 bung installed. Im just not sure if the car will throw a CEL with the rear o2 removed and simulator installed. Thanks

Mine is still where it was, I have no cat. just sits there doing NOTHING. Once the cat is out, you get a CEL. I have the AEM UEGO with 02 sensor just in front of it.

So you installed a additional bung for your wideband? Im asking if you can remove the stock rear o2 sensor and leave the o2 sim installed with no CEL issues?

Dont you have to "splice" the 02 simulator to the wires of the Stock O2 sensor?

You will not be able to do it as you described. If you remove the second 02 sensor, even with the simulator still in place you will throw a CEL, most likely either low voltage or heater circuit for the rear 02 CEL.

I thought the point of the O2 simulator was to allow you to remove the rear O2 sensor without triggering a CEL, as long as the simulator is wired in properly. Or are you saying that you just can't physically cut all wires to the stock O2 sensor?

I think when you remove the CAT, you get a CEL, the 02 sensor has NOTHING to sense, and it knows the cat is gone. I wouldn't cut anything, just leave it there. I also thought you have to cut into the stock 02 sensor lines to connect the 02 Sensor simulator. I have one of those simulators, but never hooked it up! You CAN cut the 02 Sensor wires off, and the 02 sensor, but WHY?!

Dubble is right. There is a heater element that needs to warm up the sensor. Removing this throws the code. It needs to remain connected. BUT DO NOT leave it under your seat. The O2 gets hot and can start a fire.

Leave the O2 sensor tied next to your downpipe. Hook up the O2 simulator signal wire to pin 75 on the ECU harness, and ground to pin 92.

Good call on the heater fire.

Thanks man thats all I needed to know. Im just going to take my DP and get a bung welded in it. That seems to be the easiest way!!

Or as Matz suggested, you can tie off your second 02 sensor somewhere under the car, and reuse the existing bung for your wideband. That will work. My original impression was that you wanted to remove (unplug and sit it in your garage) the 02 completely. You can remove it out of the exhaust, but you can't remove it off the car.
