Show your interest in a dry sump kit here

If a shop assembled a dry sump kit with an aluminum pan, oil pump and all the fittings and lines already pre measured and cut with mounting brackets etc etc etc pretty much a bolt on kit, how many of you would be interested in it? I've heard that 8 times out of 10 an evo blows up its usually due to an over worked oil pump... coments/questions/concerns?

I would as long as it looked clean when installed and came with some type of guarantee including damage resulting from pump failure.

How could a shop warranty a manufacturers oil pump? I'm sure the oil pump failure would be a rare problem seeing as how almost all small aircraft are dry sumps and they have to meet WAY stricter standards and regulations then any performance car counterpart. Do you get a cover-all warranty to cover a mismachined cam (which happens more then you think if you actually degree your cam) when your intake valve smacks your piston at 8000 RPM? You don't even get anything but a start up warranty on crate motors 9 times out of 10. Its performance modifications we're talking about here people, please keep that in mind.

I'm really interested, but this could be big $$$$, if that happens to be an issue for you. At one point I started looking at doing something like this, but a pump was about $800 alone. I wasn't even sure about having an oil pan made, but ones for hondas run about $450. Then throw in all the lines, swirl pot, brackets, etc. It adds up real quick.

I still would have gone through with it if I knew the oil demand for the motor and what to do with the stock oil pump. And if I had decent math skills...

Well I represent a company that does one off pans as well as a fitting and hose company, and I would like to approach a local very well known shop to pitch the idea of assembling one of these kits. I'm doing this to gauge interest in the idea.

How do you manufacture the pans? Welded sheet or cast? Just curious; but I am really interested in doing this.

My boss and I would be the ones that would design the kit and i would weld all of them. I was gonna do them for a subaru as that what i own and thats what i work on but you evo guys would benefit more from it.

Yeah, I'm guessing the subaru cranks are well above the oil in the pan...?

Also the pan would come with adjustable scrapers to fit your crank and rod combo.

Well I am building my Evo pretty much from the ground up and right now we are working on the engine and head, But when we are ready to deal with fuel and oil supply we were planning on going with a custom dry sump setup, If its clean and is not to heavy I will be very interested in it. I wont be for awhile cause I am probably going to sell my 03 WW and buy a 06 TB
