IX MR (forge MBC installed) need advice
I installed the forge MBC, on my 2006 IX MR works great. The stock boost gauge is holding at 1.35 bar at WOT. Does not taper off. thats for gears 1-4. The boost rises to 1.45 in 5th and 6th gear and does not taper off. Does this sound ok, to much boost or not enough, can some one provide me with some advice. I searched the threads but could not find much that related this application to the IX MR.
Well, you didn't find stuff that was specific to a IX MR, because the model type doesn't matter. 1.45 bar is just 21psi, which is still not as high as you can run on 93oct, but is a very safe level. It's surprising that you hold that boost level for so long. Any other car tapers naturally, and I personally witnessed 3 separate IXs today with MBCs whose boost did not go to 1.4 and stay steady like you say, unless you are only talking about a few thousand RPM. I'm referring to going all the way to 7k rpm. the boost usually tapers some after the initial spike.
I ran it all the way to 7000, in 1st-4th gear did not taper off, Needle did not drop at all. Im using 93 octane, whats the max boost I could use with that octane?
Accurate enough, but I still don't see how it can stick at one boost level for 3500rpm on a stock Evo, but whatever.
22psi is my recommended peak on 93oct, or let's say 1.5bar in your case...

I am very curious about the new Evo 9 boost. It seems like the Evo 9 despite having a bigger turbo does not run high boost numbers. I talked to Al today and he suggested around 20-21PSI with the mail flash.
I am running 3"tb with air filter. What are you guys running on the stock Evo 9 turbo? I thought you could run 24-25PSI with no problems.

Stock Evo9 running 24-25psi???? I dunno, I haven't heard of nor seen that. The highest powered one in our Dyno Day yesterday hit 300whp with TBE, MBC, and AEM intake (untuned), but that was only 21psi peak...
WOW, definately the Evo 8 turbo boost higher with same mods, it must be that the Evo 9 turbo is bigger and does not need to spool up that high(my guessing).
I am assuming that the new mail in flash set at 20.5-21psi should be sufficient then.
The way I am running now, it peaks to 22.-23psi rapidly but then it vanishes right away and drop to 16-17psi
