6 puck question

I was looking for the RMR 6 puck disk to match with my stock clutch, but then I noticed that act also had a 6 puck you can buy seperate from turbo trix. I might be an idiot, but does that only match up with the act clutch set up or could you use that with a stock set up as well.

Most clutch discs for the EVO will be interchangable with the stock parts. Our 6 puck definitely is. With our disc you can expect about 30% more torque capacity, but neither clutch is what I would consider "streetable". The difference ibetween the RMR and ours is that our 6 puck is solid center while the RMR is spring centered as I recall. FYI: We will be offering a spring centered disc in the next couple weeks.

i have the clutchnet 6 puck sprung disc with a stock pressure plate.
first get a sprung hub disk
for the 6puck disc, i love it. however, it is difficult to drive for others. it grabs quick and HARD. i love it because u can rev the crap out of it, and it never smokes or shows signs or fade.
BUT, do not use it with the stock pressure plate. my clutch engages really high on the peddle. i actually had to make the peddle movement shorter.
the problem is that the 6puck disc is thinner than what the pressure plate is designed for, so it takes the disc longer to grap on the flywheel.

The thickness of the disc is not what is affecting the engagement point. The Clutchnet disc is the same as the stock disc (8mm) when compressed. The difference is that the stock disc has cushioning between the linings while the Clutchnet doesn't so it releases with less travel than the stock disc.

i have a complete act clutch kit with the OEM flywheel ...the heavy duty pressure plate and a unsprung 6 puck... feels really hard but be careful because those things disengage really fast.. overall I am happy with it .. just be careful...with the disengament..

ACTman, i hope u can answer this for me.
how can i avoid the high engagement point of the 6 puck?
i mean i adjusted my clutch pedal down, so it has very short travel. the main problem is that any touch of the clutch pedal will make the clutch slip.
actually, when i first ran the car with the 6 puck, it would keep on slipping every time i launched. it would never grab and keep slipping until i shifted. well, it turned out that the clutch pedal would be stuck down a bot.
could it be something i did wrong in the installation?

The only way to adjust the engagement point is to adjust the rod at the pedal assembly so that there is more free play before it moves the piston in the master cylinder. I have no idea if the install if correct or not without seeing the car.

yes, thats an idea, how do i do that? your talking about under the pedal?
the only thing i saw was a rod that you screw in or out to move the pedal up and down.

The rod doesn't move the pedal. The pedal moves the rod. The pedal has it's own return spring. What you are adjusting is the free play from the rod to the piston of the master cylinder.

RMR stated that the 6 puck will work with the stock pressure plate so it shouldn't be a problem. But using it for daily driving ain't the most comfortable thing. I had it for a while and i can't say i enjoy driving my evo that much due to it. So i got the full face RMR one after that. Only thing you need to do is resurface the flywheel.

AND dont forget to resurface the pressure plate with new straps and rivvits.

i am running the clutch net 6 puck. i emailed rmr and they said "We did base ours on the clutch net set-up." however, the clutch is still engaging at the high point of the clutch. i lowered the clutch pedel travel with no difference. did u experience this?
