ACT 6 Puck Sprung?
ACT 6 Puck Sprung?
I was wondering if any one has run an ACT 6 Puck Sprung Clutch over 500 FT/LBS?
according to their website it is rate up to 650FT/LBS. only reason i ask is because i am about to finish my 4G64/EF4 build and I'm not 100% sure its going to hold up to the power

Do it right the first time and get yourself a exedy double clutch setup. I used to have the ACT 6 sprung, though I did not pass 400 ft/lbs, but it was slightly unbearable to live with, especially if you're DDing the car.
My dyno results are posted in my signature and I run the ACT 6puck sprung clutch. If you daily drive this clutch it is fine only if you live in a flat area. If you have a bunch of hills then you will hate this clutch because it does not like to be slipped on inclines. I have been running this clutch for ~2 years with no issues and it shifts like butter at 9K rpm. Also, I have NEVER experienced lockout with this clutch.
I ran the 6 puck sprung clutch @ over 550wtq for ~20k miles. this is with the basic pressure plate too
The clutch is good.
Like 240z said, it doesnt like hills, especially with the light act flywheel. maybe it's my driving, but been driving sticks for over 30 years, only had an issue living in a hilly area with traffic with the 6 puck sprung clutch.
fwiw, i had the basic hdss clutch & PP, it held fine with ~500 ft/lbs. i just switched to the 6 puck because i kneew i was going to be turning up the wick!
I am currently on a exedy twin hd....I dont know what all the fuss is over.
The clutch makes a horrible noise when taking off from a stop. EVERY FKN TIME!
imagine the annoyance of squeaky brakes, but now you have this fkn noise when taking off from a stop.
Everybody talks about the noise when the clutch is pressed in....not bad at all; dont sit @ a light with the clutch in.
yet nobody talks about the "errrrrrrr" sound the clutch makes when taking off from a standstill....wtf
However, the clutch shifts much nicer than a act @ 8k revs....
if your not going to be banging gears @ high revs all the time, go with a single disc act of some flavor.
when the time comes, a single disc clutch will be going in & the exedy twin will be coming out.
DD manners, the hd exedy twin is a little nicer in traffic than the act hd w/6 puck sprung clutch, both the act hd & exedy hd have similar pedal effort imo = more than i care to have.
