I run 2.5 gallons of 101 unleaded with every tank filled of 91 so maybe that helped a little with it running fine?

Yes, power production and turbo noise will increase. An Evo 9 motor rebuild will cost you at the very least 3k installed. For a 4 horsepower increase thats a hell of an expense for absolutely NOTHING.

Anyways....55 bucks for an oil change?

Bro, go to Costco, Sams, BJ's or even WalMart and buy a case of 6 qt's of Mobil 1 10w-30 or 5w-20 for winter (not recomended but it makes it easier for my motor to warm up in the super cold) and buy a PuroLator oil filter from AutoZone for 6 bucks. Total investment, 32 bucks....Just a thought.
lol I guess this is what I get for trading in my sti for an evo.....
The day he took the filter out was the day I was installing a perrin FMIC into his sti so I didn't pay attention to what he was doing around my car, he said he was looking at the stock mr bpv

Hmm sti owner...not even surprised. If nothing happened yet, nothing probably will. Just get a k&n drop in and you'll be fine.

For the short period of time you ran without your air filter, given the weather conditions, you should be fine and no harm is done. If you are the paraniod type clean out your MAF with a compressed air can. Just put a stock or K&N drop in filter and you should be set. Also, if using the K&N drop in filter make sure you drain and dry the filter of all residual oil. You don't want any of that stuff coating you MAF sensor ... bake it out in the sun or take a hair dryer to it, if you have to ...

Your friend is an idiot. As for drop in filters, everyone has a preference, but I would go with the WOrks drop in.

Will do. My buddy , with teh sti, told me about the oil on k&n filters.
I just bought the filter so befor I "drop it in" I'll crean the maf with the can"o" air to be on the safe side and dry the hell out of the filter.

On a funny note my buddy calls me earlier today to tell me that one of the fmic pipes popped off and his call stalled turns out it was one on the right side connecting to the core. lol thats what he gets

One more quick question.......how come I didn't get a check engine light when I was driving without a air filter? I thought for sure that I should have seen a CEL......should it throw a cel or it's normal not to?
